It's a local mexican restautant, and I am needing some suggestions on what to order. This seems to be the only type of food I can't control. It's a business lunch, so I can't really request a different location.
Any idea's?

It's kind of hard to say without seeing the menu, but my tip is to ignore the chips and salsa on the table. Good luck!

Go with chicken fajitas - but no tortillas (or maybe corn ones). Eat the chicken with salsa/pico, maybe some rice. Also drink lots of water.

Last week I went out for dinner and had a veggie burrito (which I would never have considered in the past, but it was fabulous!) with rice and beans. I ate all the rice and beans, half the burrito and brought the other half home for later. I also do well with fish tacos, and hard shell tacos. I will have @ 9 chips with salsa. I eat them slow trying not to be obvious that I have cut back because I could down a basket of chips on my own. Oh my, lol The calorie counter will give you the amount of calories for a serving. Sometimes lunch menus are smaller portion sizes so quesstimate that best you can. I was able to still lose my pound for week so you can too!Good luck.

Hello, I get a chicken fajita all the time. I believe its 11 grams of fat for everything and i forget how many calories i just eat the skillet and the beans nothing else. beans are good for you and filling. a serving of chips is 12 for 120 or so calories if i remember right from weight watchers.
  • I LOVE Mexican food so, I know how you feel! I'd skip the chips and salsa along with the rice. Definitely eat the meat and beans! Both are good for you :) I'd skip the taco shells and tortilla wraps. Good luck and I am sure you will find something good. Just have control!

I would just go with a large bowl of the tortilla soup as well... That sounds really yummy.

    Good luck:flowerforyou:

My local restaurant has a half avocado and crab ceviche. It is soooo good and not bad on calories. Look for it on the menu! Although, if you don't like seafood, then you're out of luck :(

I love a chicken taco salad without the shell, sour cream, or cheese. It's usually lettuce, chicken, beans, pico de gallo, some fajita veggies if you are lucky and I'll get some avocado for healthy fats. Skip any dressing and opt for salsa instead. It's crazy yummy.
  • thanks everyone. I have narrowed it down to the soup, or they have these "tacos" I might order. It's 2 small steamed corn tortilla's with grilled chicken, cilantro, cabbage, and pico. No rice or beans.
  • Fish tacos (on corn tortillas w/cilantro & salsa, nothing more) are both low-cal and very authentic Mexican!
