Hey guys!

Thanks to good ol late night shopping channels I've gotten myself hooked on the idea of trying a fitness programme like P90X or Insanity. I've always been lucky in being able to gain muscle mass and slim at the same time, but it feel likes its my time to join all you veterans out there in getting "ripped" or in my case less wobly haha.

Just really to ask folks advice out there, would you suggest doing P90X first or Insanity? I want to do both but feel like I should make an informed decision on which to order now.

Any information would be greatly welcomed.

Cheers!!!

I haven't done the Insanity workout, but I've loved P90X. Well...loved and hated. Tony Horton is great at being inspirational without being obnoxious. The workouts are all different, and there is so much room for improvement. It doesn't require a lot of stuff. Feels good and awful all at the same time.

The simplicity is what I love about it. The very first disc is practically nothing but different kinds of push ups and pull ups -- push and pull, simple and effective. The Yoga X DVD is an extremely LONG workout, but WHOA -- I'm more flexible and have better strenght and balance than I ever have before. Plyometrics will kick your *kitten* every single time you do it. As far as I'm concerned, it never gets easier.

That sounds brilliant! Did you see the effects after you finished programme, as in "check my new physique out" lol?
    I'm hoping thats what happens.....
  • Hey,
I've never tried insanity either, but P90X has worked wonders for me. You're 22, so "working wonders" may not be necessary. It will work you, make you stronger, drop body fat%, and generally get you in the best shape of your life. Pull the trigger, man. You won't regret it.!

OP Insanity is pure cardio & is great if that is your goal, the only investment is the discs(& a hrm) & you are go. I would recommend a decent pair of crosstrainers.

P90X for me is superior, it does call for a greater investment, some weights & a pull up bar(bands will do), because of its fast pace, the X will burn fat & although by no means a muscle building system, it does add muscle mass & is great at body re composition. Tony can be irritating but I think thats cool, it is a very polished product & covers the whole fitness spectrum, I think it is a great base & an ongoing addition to more varied workouts. :)

A cheaper option is Rushfit(which is still tough), it is a good home system with more focus on functionality rather than aesthetics. BUT in my opinion the X is King.

I LOVE P90X and Tony Horton. I have completed the program several times over the past few years and just started P90X2. I highly recommend the program :)

Honestly, I didn't lose any weight during the 90 days, but after a body scan, I found I put on a lot of muscle and dropped a lot of fat. As a chick, I did more reps with lower weight, but I did notice a big change in muscle tone in my arms. Even without weight loss, I still had to buy all new clothes because my body changed so much.
