Running

I started the C25K program this morning and lets just say that the concrete didn't get to keep any of my skin. At one point I thought I was going to throw up and pass out. I swore my lungs were bleeding, but I slowed my pace and was able to catch my breath again. At the end I was glad I pushed myself to finish. When I got home and I hit the carpet, LOL, I did some ab work too.
I completed the 30DS a few months ago and started to do it again 2 weeks ago so I plan to alternate my days with running and the 30DS DVD. I will definitely say the DVD helped me get my endurance up and MFP have supported me from day 1.

I know exactly how you felt.
I started the C25K on 16th April this year. OMG.. the D1W1 I thought I was going to die after about the 3rd repetition... so much so I was planning my own funeral, flowers, music etc. I was not a pretty site when I crawled through the front door - red faced and sweaty.
This week, for the first time, I ran for 30 minutes... i cannot believe it.... i am not a fast runner and covered just over 2 miles in that time. I am going for time not speed. I have to say (maybe I need to see a doctor) that I actually look forward to my run days. Some days are harder than others but the sense of achievement when you finish a session is pricless.
Keep on the great work... you are doing well.

So happy for you, this is great! Keep doing both workouts as you have them scheduled on alternate days and you will see a huge improvement in your results. Keep Rocking Najay!0

I love your sense of humor and I am glad someone else has gone through the same pain. LOL0 -
Great job! I felt the same when I started c25k 8 weeks ago and last week I ran beyond the program for 35 min and a distance of 5k! The body is an amazing thing and this program works!0

Fantastic inspiration! I started this week and have done two days up to now. I felt great the first day as I just kinda shuffled along a bit faster on the jogging bits... then absolutely fell apart on the second day.
I'd had a gap inbetween but suspect I all of sudden thought I was an Olympic athlete so tried to stride out and pick up some speed. I just didn't listen to the programme - slow and stead wins the race!

THAT'S SOOOO AWESOME GIRL!0

yes, keep going - it gets easier and I LOVED the program. Today I ran 4 miles in 40 minutes - in March, I thought I was going to die after just running 90 seconds. Find a comfortable pace and be encouraged by those of us who managed to complete it. If you have to repeat a week, then repeat a week. You are doing awesomely!!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and remember, you may be running slowly, but you're still lapping those who are sitting on the couch. :drinker:0

Congratulations on getting started! That's the most important step right there.
It will get easier.
I felt like I was going to die several times during the first three weeks of C25K. Now I really look forward to running.
A lot of it is mental. Once you gain the confidence that you CAN do it, there'll be no stopping you.

I started in February and finally moved to Week 6 this week. Injuries, vacations and illness caused me to repeat a few weeks a few times. I think I spent a month just on Week 4! lol
I did not make it all the way through W5D3, but continued on to Week 6 anyway.
I've never considered myself a runner, but I'm enjoying this program. I finally broke 2 miles in my 30 mins yesterday! I was on pace to do it Tuesday, but a wicked thunderstorm blew through here, and I was on the treadmill, and the power went out when I had over 3 mins to go and was at 1.89 miles..I was soo mad! lol!
Feel free to add me if you'd like!0 -
OMG! I love/hate running. I have started and stopped so many times. I ran a mile this morning and probably should/could have kept going but noooooo I decided a mile was good enough and walked back. Mind you I have done 2-3 miles in the past with no problem but I was with friends and that kept me going. No way was I going to quit when my girlfriends are still going. LOL Great job continuing. I have a hard time keeping myself motivated to keep going when I'm by myself. I need to work on that and I am in awe of people who keep going and stay motivated with running!!! I have a friend that does 5-10 miles 3x a week and it is hill running and she inspires me to keep trying as do seeing posts on here from people who struggle and make it beyond what they thought they could!! Congrats to you :drinker:0
