Hypothyroidism frustration...

I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism by my doctor and the autoimmune disease Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I have been taking hormone replacement pills prescribed by my doctor and we are working on getting the levels right. Because of all the blood tests I have to take and all the monitoring, I can't take any vitamins or anything to help speed up my metabolism. So I'm getting a little frustrated with this hole thing... I'm eating right and working out but I wish there was more I could do... It's like my body is against me.

How long has it been since you were diagnosed and began medication?
I was diagnosed with Lupus and hypo all in the past 6 months. It took about one month before I started feeling better with the meds. I had 6 weeks of blood tests every other week and now I am on track that I only have to have it once a year.
I am back to taking my super B-Complex in the morning with my synthroid. I haven't had a lupus flare (maybe a small one a couple of weeks ago) since I have started eating healthy and lost some weight.
It takes time, but it is worth it in the end to have your body properly balanced. My TSH levels were 8.1 2 months ago. They are now 1.7 and I have more energy than I know what to do with!
Hang in there. It will get better.0 -
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in March and started medication then. I do feel a lot better, like a weight was lifted that I didn't even know what there... But when I got my check up blood test at the start of May they also diagnosed me with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which comes with more symptoms. I have to wait till July for my next blood test to see if my levels are still going up with this medication or they need to up it. They said my levels are going up but aren't there yet... so they are waiting it out. I just hate feeling like this...0

I completely understand. When I started on my meds I was like "Why aren't the levels fixed RIGHT NOW?!" I wish hormone levels were as easy to fix as other parts of the body. I want instant gratification. *SIGH*.
I hope you feel better soon.0 -
I was diagnoised with hypothyroidism about 10 years ago by a dr., I had did some research of my own before that and suspected that I had it, to this day I still have problems with getting my thyroid in balance, 22 years ago when I had my last child I could not lose my birth weight, I was 190 lbs, for years I tried everything, was not able to lose weight, I had gained up to 216lbs, I went to a dr. and he went over my symptoms with a fine tooth comb. Conclusion, I have what is called a leaky gut due to my imbalance thyroid, I am gluten resistance. For about the past couple of months I am watching my gluten intake, I am not down to 184lbs. I'm still having problems with my thyroid, but it is a blessing that finally after 22 years I am losing my weight, hope this helps some one out. http://ahealthyandfitlifeinfo.com0
