Fruit Sugar

Hi Pals,
I'm keeping to my daily Nutritional goals quite well, apart from Sugar.
I am not eating any sweets or cakes but do tend to consume Fruit which bumps up my figure.
Should I be cutting down on Fruit also to reduce my (natural) Sugar in take?
Thanks in advance,
Loozin

No. It is healthy and contains fibre that keeps you full. Just avoid fruit juice (no fibre) and you'll be fine!0

So do you think it would be OK to take away the calories from Fruit sugar from my total on my Food log?0

There's a good argument for ignoring sugar altogether, or for setting a higher limit, but if unsweetened orange juice and coke have the same sugar content ........0 -
hhhmmm, I hear ya.
I've spent years saying "Sugar us Sugar" - but try to justify it's OK when doing this.
I'm gonna have to find Fruits that are low in Sugar, like Honey Dew Melon.
Anybody know of any more?0 -
OH NOOOO !!!
Quick Google shows one of my favourite Foods (let alone Fruit) is Very High in Sugar - MANGO !!!
Here's some others, that are better:
#1- Strawberries
46 calories/11g carbs/1g protein/7g sugar
#2- Cantaloupe
54 calorie/14 g carbs/1g protein/3g sugar
#3- Plum
30 calories/8g carbs/.5g protein/7g sugar
#4- Kiwi
50 calories/12g carbs/1g protein/8g sugar
#5- Watermelon
48 calories/11.5g carbs/1g protein/ 9.5g sugar
I can live with that.

It depends. Are you diabetic or otherwise insulin resistant? If so, then yes. You should cut back on fruit. If not, then have it. Wish I could eat more fruit, but alas....0

Eat all the fruit you care for.0

Unless you have diabetes and have to monitor your sugar intake, I wouldn't break it out of the general carbs category. Why micromanage something that you really don't have to!0
-
Is there a reason why you want to cut down on sugar?0

You are a male. Do not eat sugar. If you have any doubt, message me, and I'll explain in gory details about infertility in male mice.0

I found myself wondering the same thing. I snack on fruits a LOT throughout the day, and then I look at my sugars and carbs and they're off the chart high. But I guess it's better than eating straight sugar...unless of course you're diabetic, and then I guess it really doesn't matter since your body can't differentiate between the good and bad sugars.0

Good and bad sugars? What did they do break curfew?0 -
berries are low in sugar, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries, I like my apples to munch on and they send my sugar allowance out the window but I'm losing weight and I won't give them up yet. I have a mango tree in the yard and they are ready, oh boy!!!!0

It doesn't matter where your sugar comes from... If you are only looking at SUGAR consumption.
If you want to cut back on sugar, then yes you'll have to cut back on fruit.
Personally I eat a lot of fruit and have never had an issue. Some people are particularly sensitive to sugar, others not so much.
If you want to keep the fruit - BERRIES are superfoods that have relatively low sugar and higher nutritional benefits.0 -
Cherry tomatoes (still some sugars but not bad), but honestly, out of all the people I know who are overweight, I don't know one who got that way from eating too much fruit.0

I heard somewhere Fat doesn't make you Fat Sugar does. It kinda stayed with me.0
