sit ups and raw skin.

whenever I do a large number of sit ups my tail bone protrudes and rubs the skin raw. i've never had this happen to me until recently, anyone have this happen and find a solution?

    I have had it happen to me but I didn't think it was necessarily from my tailbone. All I found I could do was do less of them and more of other exercises, especially while the skin healed.

    Use a cushy exercise mat.

    i'll try the cooshy mat, i'm leaving for boot in september and so it's a requirement to do a lot of sit ups. i'll just have to watch that i don't rub it raw, thanks for the advice!

    I do my situps on my bed. Nice and cushiony..

    I hate sit ups, I only do the during the PT test. I do other core workouts. I love the core workouts in insanity. And doing core with the TRX is great. I maxed sit-ups my last test

    A thick mat helps, or even a pillow may be necessary.

    I have this same problem--in fact, in my group class this morning I felt bruised after doing so many mat exercises, even after doubling up my mat. The trainer explained to me that it can just be a problem biologically with the way your pelvis and hips are tilted, that it grinds into the ground like that. Try doubling up a squishy mat, or even putting your hands flat below your lower back to take a little of the pressure off your tailbone.

    yay for biological problems!!! well, it's something i have to do i can't avoid sit ups so i'll just make it as comfy as possible.
