Hello, all!
I've been trying to eat healthier and exercise when I can for a while, but going to the doctor and realizing I've gained 25lbs in the past year has been a bit of a wake-up call. All of the women in my family have always been thin, so these extra pounds don't make me feel so great. Combine that with the fact that my husband lost about 30 pounds just by starting a new, more active job, and it's time for me to get it into gear.
I've never really counted calories or tracked my food before, except for way back when I took a nutrition class in college. I like seeing where all of the calories go, but wow is it going to be difficult to figure out how to make this work AND add in some breakfast in the morning. I usually just drink a couple of cups of coffee with coffemate and splenda, and too much food in the mornings makes me feel a bit ill. Any suggestions?
I'm excited to get started with MFP, and I've also started Jillian Michaels's 30-day Shred. I just did day one, and I AM EXHAUSTED. I feel great, though, and I'm ready to do it again tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone in advance for the kind words. You all rock, and you're so inspiring. =D

As far as breakfast goes....maybe eat a little something - like a piece of fruit or a slice of bread with some PB?0 -

Yes, I did! Oh wow, though. I've read that it's intense, and it TOTALLY is. Worth it, though! I used 3lb hand weights, and I think I felt just the right amount of burn in my arms for now. My husband tried it with me, and all he had were his 10lb weights-- definitely too much, and he's got some decently toned arms! I'm going to try to do each level for 10 days each, but we'll see how I feel at the end of these first 10 days. I might need to stretch it out to a 35- or 40-day shred, lol!0
