Hey there, I started taking mirtazapine for my depression and it made me ridiculously hungry and I've more or less spent 20 days binging on junk yet still exercising like I normally would?
I was taken off the mirtazapine and put on sertraline instead so the incessant hunger has gone - but to my absolute horror, I've weighed myself and I've put on 15lbs in 20 days.
It's not even that TOM for me, so is this actually 'true weight'? Have I really put on that much 'true weight' in so little time?!
Advice would be lovely ^_^

It is possible, depending on what you ate, if it was high in sodium, then you are probably storing a lot of excess water, try drinking loads. Sertraline is good, I was on it for a while, then Idecided to break free and go it alone, I am surviving, I put on more weight off them, than on them.
Good luck with your journey, persevere and your life will be good.0 -
Some of it could be water weight and come off quickly as you are back on track...but unfortunately the rest your gonna have to burn off:( I know if I eat poorly pack on the pounds VERY quickly! Wish you al thee best, hope you are doing better now:)0

I agree with the water and if you ate a high amount of sodium........and you can eat that without realizing it / I added 20 lbs to my body in less than a week, but it fell off and I broke my plateau and that was my goal ) if it is water it should fall off quickly I lost mine within 2 weeks, broke my plateau, which I had been on for over a year, and have been steadily losing small amounts every couple of days.........but, I am doing my best to stay away from the sodium....it's evil and I have learned that watermelon can taste good with out it / okay, maybe not really, but I don't want to swell up again like a balloon LOL!0

If there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, you would have to eat over 50,000 calories in those 20 days for this to be possible. Like everyone else said, it's more likely to be water weight, especially with eating sodium rich junk foods and continued exercise. Don't worry, drink your water and keep at it :-) the pounds will drop off.0

This happened to me and I guess I had some weird hormone spike. Within a month I gained like 15 pounds and I was eating a semi okay diet but I craved sugar like there was no tomorrow. If you think thats what it is, maybe talk to your doctor because something might be wrong, especially if your on birth control. I changed mine up and it came off...
Another alternative is not eating properly (under or over). I have also seen bi weight gain following programs like juicing, Adkins, and other quick diets once the person goes back on a normal diet.
The way I maintain and lost my weight is through exercise. I guess for every pound of muscle you gain you burn an extra 50-100 calories a day without even trying. It has carried me through the tough weeks where I didn't eat so well. It is even more important to maintain your weight then it is to lose it. Muscles... that's the answer haha0 -
Hi
I started taking anti depressants 3 months ago and to my horror gained 21lbs!!!! My diet etc had not changed. This depressed me even more than what i was depressed about to begin with lol, so i took my self off them last week!!!!!
I think you have to weigh up which is better for you...weight gain and feeling relaxed or non weight gain and try to find ways of coping without the meds?
I know what I have chosen (hence being here)0 -
I refuse to take those pills. I took celexa for a day and I went crazy on it I stopped they are not good for me at all. They may work for some but they did not agree with me. My doctor makes me exercise to control my anxiety. It helps me. I still get out bursts but it's making progress0
