Three weeks into the program.

Hi, i am a 56 year old grandma of 7. I started the program 3 weeks ago. I really like it so far and am always looking for snack ideas and side dishes that are healthy and yummy. I have lost 6 pounds so far and am so excited to find something that is working for me. I am going away next weekend and am nervous that i won't do good. Any helpful hints would be welcome. There will be alot of sitting time, it's a semminar at a christian college. Thanks and i hope to be able to help others as i learn along the way.

if you are eating out the entire time, you should look up places nearby and find options that are low in calories. also, it helps if you brings healthy snacks with you that won't go bad so you don't end up buying something unhealthy. or you can just stop by a grocery store that might be nearby and pick up some fruits and veggies that don't need to be refrigerated. i also love fresh and easy. so many healthy options that are easy and quick to prepare! i do a lot of traveling and its hard to eat healthy on the road. these are usually things i end up doing when im on the road. have fun0

Life is full of these learning opportunities. You are going to be going to many social events for the rest of your life, hopefully.
My best advice? Don't talk about your "diet". If someone offers you food, learn to decline politely with a "No, thanks," and leave it at that. You don't have to give reasons, or explain. Just a smile and a "no thanks."
You could always keep a running tally in your purse in a little spiral ring notebook and then add it to your diary at night on the internet, or do it when you get home.
Or, just don't worry about it. Don't overeat, just eat.0 -
Thank you, those are all helpful ideas. There is only one meal i am concerned with on Friday evening because i don't know what we are having, it's a banqute. Thank you once again this will help me stay the course.0

When I go to a banquet I eat a big salad before I go. That way I am not starving and I can pick out what I can eat and leave the rest.
I started doing this before dieting because I am celiac, and often at partys there is little food I can eat, but it works for those wanting to be careful with calories too.0
