Try not to sweat it too much. Perhaps you're retaining some water?0

Maybe...I just didn't know if there's any other explanation...

Thank goodness, this has been happening to me too. There is a lot of ab work though, so maybe muscle building and water retention. *fingers crossed* I am just gonna keep at it0

How often are you measuring? More than 1x/month seems kind of silly.0

I only measure once a month, but I felt like my waist was bigger (usually after I've been working out I'll feel slimmer)...so i measured to see if it was just in my head. Nope, 1/2in bigger...0 -
This happened to me after the first week of Ripped in 30. I snuck a peak at my waist measurement, since I felt bloated. It had increased. I'm almost through week 3, and it has started to go down...more than an inch below my start point so far. Give it time.0

Could be muscle.0

i wouldn't worry, i'm on day 5 now and yest i was sooo bloated! water (combined with the evil choice of adding bacon to my lunch oops!) watch your sodium, LOTS of water!! saw improvement today!0

It's water. I started doing pushups and my forearms went up a whole inch! After about a month the inch was gone. There's no way I could have gained and then lost muscle that fast, so I chalk it up to water retention.0

I drink usually 12+ cups of water a day... So I wouldn't think I've had too much??0 -
You're 4 days in....way to early to get concerned...I've completed it and trust me you will lose/tone up.
Don't forget to take before / after pics to share!0 -

Oh I took my own pics...lol I'll have to gain courage to share. I acquired some "stripes" during pregnancy that I'm not in love with!!0 -
water gain is one thing and you could be gaining muscle to.
I have been going from losing 1 to 3 inches a week then all of a sudden i'll lose like 5 or 6 and its because i'm doing more strength training and i've been told that this is normal.
i have hit that "plato" already a few times just stick with it change some things up maybe and you will see a change.
good luck0 -
I noticed I actually gained weight after doing it 3 days so I decided to give it time, it got me really down. I am not gonna weigh in again till after level 1 is finished, hopefully by then I will not see another gain!0

My ab work over 5 years has put at least an inch on my waist. I don't expect to have a 24" waist but muscles do take up space in your body.0

I know what you mean with feeling like its bigger. However I can tell my thighs are smaller. My stomach I've been putting down to muscle because I do extra sit ups and push ups on top of the shred and my stomach feels hard. Before it just felt so flabby. If you know you are getting plenty of water, I'll best its muscle.0

It's not uncommon for measurements to increase before decreasing. Water is a good reason, but if you have started any weight training, you could be increasing muscle size. The increase muscle size will help burn fat and your measurements will decrease as you reduce your body fat percentage. I would recommend not measuring weekly. Once a month is a good suggestion.0

Thanks everyone, I'm doing the 30 day shred and am on level 1. So she does crunches in that... I'm used to only doing running/elliptical and my waist shrinking! I just worry about getting a blocky muscle look (do not want that)!! I'll give it some time to see if it gets better..0

yep that's lots! i drink 3-4 litres myself too (although stop logging after 10 'glasses')
sounds like you are doing great looking forward to seeing your pics when you get brave! i know the feeling!0 -
I only "officially" measure once a month. I sneak in extra measurements through the month sometimes though, and I often find my waist has mysteriously expanded. Whether it's water retention, full stomach, or I'm just not that accurate at measuring, I don't know. However, the "official" monthly measurement has consistently gone down, so I wouldn't worry too much, unless it's a consistent upward trend that you're seeing.0

Okmy waist is even bigger today could it be my diet, too much protein? Ughhh... I'm so worried and it's going to drive me nuts!!
Bump plz help me!!0
