I LOVE to eat peanut butter...but it has so many calories! Jif has 90 calories in one tablespoon! UGH I was wondering if anyone else has a good idea of what I can use as a substitute for my peanut butter cravings.

I'm right there with you on this one!!! I love PB too. I just try to limit my consumption.
  • Try "PB2"--it is a great product and only 45cal for 2 tablespoons. Just Google it and you can purchase it online.

I'm in a long term relationship with peanut butter but i'm afraid I love it more than it loves me (or so my thighs have been telling me).

I've heard about PB2 from a lot of different people and would suggest giving that a try if you feel you need to find a replacement.

I've actually managed to get it relatively under control (I have it everyday - so I don't know if that counts as control).

I've been told that food loves you MORE than you love it...that's why it sticks around on your hips and thighs even when you want it to leave :D

they said order the pb2 online. I prefer to get stuff locally though. I was looking from something good and close to me so I can get it in a pinch if I need to.

Checked out your diary. Peanut butter is delicious and relatively healthy with good fats. I am not a big believer in the fake stuff but am in the natural stuff. Jiff while delicious has a bunch of added sugars that are unnecessary. Natural, maybe the kind you have to stir, doesn't. Also, 2 tablespoons works just as well as 3 so there is another calorie saving thing. If it were me, arby's would be cut out before peanut butter.

OOh....Arbys vs. peanut butter? Close call...I don't eat Arbys often, maybe twice in the last month if that. Even then i don't eat hardly what i used to. I don't even eat the buns, just the meat. :(

PB2 is locally available for me, so you might want to check out any local health food stores or stores with health food sections. I've just recently discovered something called "Better than Peanut Butter" which is similar in taste and made from peanuts but about half the calories (100 calories in 2 TB). The only way to find out what's available locally for you is to check out your grocery store and read labels.

Blech! Better'n Peanut Butter is just gross. PB2 tastes waaay more like peanuts. Yes, PB2 has a poor texture, but taste is (almost) everything.

netrition.com sells PB2 .... it comes on a peanut butter & chocolate variety too.

To see if there is a health food store that sells PB2 near you ... go to bellplantation.com

How about switching to a higher nutrient PB (no added oil/fats/sugar) so you can enjoy your PB and no worry about your health? Many better stores have their own brand of very smooth (like the sugary brands) pb without any thing added, only peanuts! I eat pb every day and never worry. I'm not sure what PB2 is, but of course, always read your labels! good luck!

Peanut Butter (Smuckers Natural) is a staple for my diet. Ever since I started focusing on trying to get more veggies into my diet, meeting my daily calorie requirements has been difficult so I need some good high-calorie sources of healthy fats to put in there, and real natural PB is the way to go for me! A lower calorie substitute would be counteproductive =P

Of course I do typically burn 500+ calories a day doing workouts (sometimes over 1k)

I can't have it in my house, because that is my "Go To" food when I want something really good and I don't just have a liltle. Of course you need something to put it on so in comes bread, crackers etc etc. So more calories there. I just don't eat it.

I love it too but find one spoon is enough to give my taste buds what it needs, I have had a jar or organic in my cupboard for about 6 weeks and its nearly gone now.

Agree totally. I had hubby pick up a jar of Better N' Peanut Butter. I hated it, it tasted horrible to me. Plus the fact that it's pasteurized and needs refrigeration. It has a yucky 'baby poop' kind of texture too. It went to work and his office used it. lol

I love PB2, the store locator on the Bell Plantation site is great, I can get it near me. I sometimes make a yummy apple dip using 2 tablespoons of PB2, 1 teaspoon of SF/FF ANY flavor instant pudding mix and enough water to make a consistency you like. I love it!
