Hello. When I first joined MFP, I lost 26lbs (yeh). I have gained back 16 of those pesky pounds. I am determined to get healthier and drop some poundage before my husband and I take our honeymoon (finally). The unfortunate part of this equation is that I just had reconstructive ankle surgery. No weight bearing for a month, nada. The trip is early March. The only thing I can really do is upper body stuff and maybe some abs if I am really really careful. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

  • :embarassed: the thing i can offer is....what i hear from my family all the time....burn more than you consume. Watch your calorie intake so since you cant burn like you use to because of the injury try healthy choices:smile:
  • Hi there,
Sorry about your ankle. If you swim, its the best exercise - low pressure on your body, and gives an overall workout

Just log your calories and see how it all adds up, and change accordingly. There are a lot of successful losers who don't excersise.

If you can swim that would be great if not check out arm chair exercises, you can get a workout doing those and you won't have to be on your foot! Take care of yourself so the ankle heals properly! Just do not go over your calorie limit and you still should lose!! Remember: WATER-WATER !!!!
  • I agree with most of the other posts. You can watch you calorie intake and lose weight by making healthy food choices. The trick to any weight loss is to eat less calories than you burn. You probably won't be able to swim until all of the incisions heal completely which may take 4-6 weeks. But once that is healed check with your doctor about water exercise, swimming or just walking in the water. Water exersies would help you burn calories and still protect that ankle.
