Body Wraps... Do they work?

So there's a deal on Groupon for a do it yourself body wrap kit, and I've heard stories that many people go to the spa to try out the body wraps. I also heard that you can lose inches and weight by doing these. It sounds awesome but is it just a waste of money?

If anyone has experience with this, please share! And if they worked for you, do you have before and after results or pics?

Thank you guys so much.

I am curious too. I would think it is a temporary result. Nothing comes easy!

I had a body wrap done (won a gift certificate from a spa) and I lost about 6 inches overall, and almost 10 lbs... HOWEVER - as soon as you eat or drink ANYTHING, you will instantly gain it all back. Really, all it does is force the water out of your skin. For me, it was worth it for the pictures, since I def looked slimmer- but then I didn't have to pay for it either - and it was like 80$. It wouldn't have been worth it if I had had to pay for it.

I once had a body wrap at a spa, but it was supposed to be more therapeutic than anything else and I didn't need to lose weight. The attendant tightly wrapped me in steaming sheets that had been heated in an herbal infusion. Some people found the wrapping made them feel claustrophobic, not relaxed. I was sort of in--between. I could tolerate it, but it wasn't all that enjoyable. I think I did let the attendant wrap me with my arms inside. I lay there for something like 45 minutes. I did feel relaxed afterwards when I was freed from my sheet jail.

It might cause some temporary (I mean , a few hours max) weight loss. I've read that certain cellulite creams work, for a few hours, and some women will use them for a special occasion.

I'm having trouble imagining how someone would do this on her own. You need strength and leverage to get the sheets wrapped tightly. You're naked, so you'd need the help of a very good friend. I'm very modest.
