Check your activity level and your goal pounds per week.
If you are sedentary you may have to leave it at half a pound a week
going under bmr is not good.

Eat at least your BMR. This tool on this site is a "Dumb" tool: it assumes you know a little bit about yourself.

Your BMR is what you burn if you do not move at all through out the day. It was how many calories your body needs for the organs to work. If you work out your TDEE you can find out how many calories you burn in a day when you move around. I eat about 50-100 calories above my BMR and I am at a 500 calorie deficit. You could eat at 1550 and wait for a couple of weeks to see how much you lose. Eating more worked for me but you will get many different opinions.

BMR is the amount of calories your body needs to survive at the basic level. The best example I've seen is, if you were in a coma that is the number of calories the hospital would put into you in order for your organs to function normally.

So eating below your BMR is not wise. It slows your metabolism, and you are considered to be starving yourself.

Please do yourself a favor and read this blog by a member of the MFP group "Eat More to Weigh Less":

BMR is what your body would need in calories to SURVIVE if you were in a coma, so to eat less than that is basically unhealthy. I haven't figured out why MFP encourages people to eat less than BMR.

The blog will give you some good sound information, NOT a quick way to loose weight, but to have a realistic fat loss.

    Good luck with your endeavors!
