i have a dilemma...

i'm 90% sure that i have torn the tendon which runs from the shoulder through the middle of the triceps/biceps. It really hurts to move AT ALL, a very sharp, jabbing pain. I cannot afford to go to the drs right now, and am meant to be doing my assessment tomorrow (showing how i train a client - just on a fellow classmate), which obviously includes demonstrating the exercises.
i would go get a drs certificate... but i cannot afford it.
what would you recommend i do?

Why don't you go to the hospital? They're free.0

I would kinda feel like I'm wasting their time.. considering the urgency of the other things which people would have whilst waiting, plus I probs wouldn't even get home before school time.0 -
They'll judge if you're wasting their time or not. Anyway that's what your (or your parent's) taxes pay for. I know you're young, can't you just ask your parents to pay?0

Try and find a bulk billing doctor? They do still exist0

This. They are super easy to find. Ask if you can demonstrate in a week or so, after you heal a but. I'm sure they will say yes if you have a doctors cert.0 -

I found this strange, Because I live in Melbourbe and they are everywhere. Anyway, I googled it, and I don't know where abouts in Canberra you actually are, but have you actually looked this up? I found a few. Apart from this, I'm not really sure what you could do. I guess it would just be explaining to your teacher what has happened.0 -
Quick Google search, go to the Walk In Centre

Yeah I have and have been to a few which said online they were bulkbilled and then when I walked out they asked for me to pay. I know there is a walk in centre, but that is all nurses not doctors?0 -
Hmmm.. Well I would recommend when u call to book your apointment, making sure they DO bulk bill and that you won't have to pay when you get there. Apart from this, I think you should just speak to your teacher?0

OK - in your original post you said you can't afford to go to the doctor so people gave you advice to get around that. I'm wondering why you bothered posting then.0 -

I am a student nurse so I hope my advice doesnt cause you anxiety. Nurofen will help somewhat but you're going to need a physio or worse. Gininderra Medical Centre in Belconnen is free (and I used it last week, so I know you dont have to pay). The walk in centre at the Canberra Hospital is designed for this kind of thing - nothing more serious is managed there (they get directed to the hospital next door) so you wont be wasting anyones time. Both are closed around 10pm at night but will reopen 8am tomorrow.
Any kind of tendon issue requires rest, a tendon is similar to a muscle - and I know you are studying anatomy and physiology, so you probably know that. If your pain is that bad, and you cant demonstrate - a doctors certificate is probably the least of your problems.
Please get some medical help - random strangers on the internet can not diagnose or medicate your problem.0 -

Okay thanks heaps! I just have no idea about that side of towns doctors cause I live in tuggeranong , but would be willing to go out there if it is free, is worth it.0 -
No worries. Gininderra is the quietest early in the morning, less time to wait. Apparently there is also a lull in patients early afternoon. I only had to wait 35mins, and after youve seen the doctor you dont even have to see reception girls again. Parking is free too.0

Decent, thanks heaps
Also, do you need to book ahead or is it a walk in as well?0 -
Just turn up. Your seen on first come first served basis - its not like hospital where it's done on priority or need.0
-
If it's that bad, you should definitely go to some sort of walk-in clinic or whatever it is you have there in the land down under. Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You will if you injure it even worse. I'm going to have to go listen to some Men at Work now.0
