Hi everyone ,
I'm Jan and I'm from Scotland in the UK. I've finally decided to do something about my extra layers but as I'm bad for comfort eating when the kids are in bed, I'm finding it hard. Any tips welcome.

Do something to keep yourself busy and you won't think about it as much. When I want to eat I get up and do something, whether its the dishes or another load of laundry. Putting toys away. Anything that gets you away from food. Try it, it has worked for me.0

Welcome! I am new to this site, too. Good luck. A bowl of cereal with lowfat milk is satisfying and healthy. Or a half cup of cottage cheese with reduced-fat potato chips. Cape Cod 40% reduced fat chips taste really good and I actually prefer them to the full-fat ones which are rather greasy.0

Welcome Jan!
Comfort eating... hmmm. I've really worked to pay attention when I'm grabbing for something to eat. I ask myself, am I hungry, or bored? Usually, it's just boredom. When that's the case, I grab a glass of cold water and pop in a piece of sugarless gum and go find something else to do. When I'm riding my recumbent bike I can't eat, or I might get out some scrapbook supplies, or my knitting stuff. Also, I've developed a saying that I say to myself when I eat or do something dumb (like lick out the very last from my bowl or from a measuring spoon or just mindlessly eat something from a bag...) I tell myself, "That's something a fat person would do." Maybe skinny people do those things, too - but I'd like to think that for the most part those kind of habits will be something I need to rid myself of in order to get to that skinny place. Anyway, even when you "mess up" just come up with a saying to encourage yourself to not do it again and move on. No guilt allowed!
+++POSITIVE THOUGHTS+++ Jan!!! :flowerforyou:
You can do this!!!
