If I were ever to use a supplement, the only one I would ever use is Alli. However, my mom tried it first, and all those crazy warnings on the box are real... Anal leakage especially. It blocks the fat from being absorbed in your intestines, but that seriously greases up the works down below and you lose a significant amount of sphincter control. My mom tried it for a few weeks, even using less than the package says to use, and less often, and it just wasn't worth it.
you also have to be very careful with the amount of fat in your diet, "good" or "bad" fats both.
*** all of that is second hand from my mom (and tempered by my dad who is an MD and sees the bad effects of all the crazy weightloss things out there)
Sooooo it's just good old fashioned eating less and movign more for me. And it's no fun, and hard work. but at least i did it (err, am doign it)
Good luck!0 -
I never have, but a friend tried Alli. Yes she lost weight, but so did I just by cutting calories & exercising. And yes we both put the weight back on. Oops:blushing:
But, and it's a big but, I never had to worry about having an 'accident' while out & about. She did. She had to carry a change of undies & trousers with her just in case. And yes she did have to use them.:noway:
She didn't have a significant weight loss, we started at the same time and lost pretty much the same over the 4 months we were dieting. To me it's just not worth the money, just make use of MFP and log everything, it works just as well & it's free.0 -
I tried Alli once, didn't see much of a difference in weight lost (as opposed to just eating right without Alli) and whoa...you're in the bathroom all day if you eat too much fat. There were days when I ate really well and the Alli gods seemed to think otherwise. I never had any of the scary "accidents" or anything, but the whole bathroom thing was really gross. I would never take it again.0

i used alli once and i´m using it now
First time i´ve used i´ve also cutted down off 600 calories of my normal daily intake wich is and was arround 1800. Leaving me with 1200 calories .I lost more then 10 kilos ( 22 pounds ) in half year.
I didnt take alli in all meals , only the ones with more fat
Now im doing the same and just started .
About the bathroom issues of eating to much fat , since i have constipation i dont feel the secundary effects0 -
If u take alli , u should normally take a multivitamin pill0

Just curious why you'd want to eliminate (literally) the fat you eat. Natural fat is great for you. If you want to eliminate something, eliminate garbage carbs and eat only whole, healthy food.0

Here's my take on the product. In Canada our FDA will not approve it even though it's been on the market for years in the US.
You are much better off making permanent changes and doing things slowly than falling for a gimmick!0 -

Same with me. I tried it a couple years ago and no matter what I ate I was in the bathroom. And, TMI, it was traffic cone orange. I knew that wasn't natural and I quit after a couple weeks deciding having to worry about my butt or what came out of it wasn't worth it.0 -
Hello everyone,

I take 1/2 tablet of phenteramine every morning. It is a prescription appetite suppressant. Have been taking it since the first week in January as part of a physician supervised weight loss program. It is not without its side effects...it can cause high blood pressure, tachycardia, insomnia, and dry mouth to name a few. I have only experienced the dry mouth.0 -

Appetite suppression is a fancy word for STARVATION.
Just saying.0 -
I"m drinking a pre-bottled protein shake, because I"m doing mostly weight training and not much cardio... I need the protein for my diet (and still researching what clean foods are high in protein). I'm not doing it to bulk up, I'm doing it to replace protein that I'm not getting from a mostly vegetable diet, and bulk my calories (its about 300 cal drink) at those times when I'm not hungry but I need the calories to be at my minimum calorie intake.0

Nothing wrong with appetite suppressants.
I've tried Alli. It didn't do much for me. I didn't have any of the 'side effects' unless I purposely tried to trigger them. I believe they have you limit your fat to 15g a meal or something? I'm not sure the Alli kicks in at that level, but fear of side effects might help some people not go above that level. That's sort of how WLS works-- overeating causes some really bad effects so you learn not to, from what I hear. I think if you have the discipline to just watch your levels without the drug, that'll save you a bunch of money.0 -
I wasted my money on Alli...ended up throwing it out. Unless you live 10 ft. from a bathroom, I woudnt advise it. ;D0

"Anal leakage". Nuff said.0

But that eliminates 95% of the conversations on these message boards!!0 -
I've taken Alli before. Weight came off slightly faster, but it was NAS.TY.
It wasn't worth it for me, since there is NO WAY I'd be able to stay on it indefinitely. And if you don't change the way you eat, the weight will come back on.0 -
It was taken off all the shelves here, can not be found anywhere so something happened. Though I used it from time to time with no issues.0
