Making progress but need tips on running

I've tried and failed at C25K and now I have a believe-it-or-not easier program I'm sticking too. I've gone for a couple runs outside which for my 285 pound self is a big NSV.

Anyways, I got fitted for some running shoes I can't afford just yet, but since I'm progressing well I intend to run/walk a 5k in the next couple months, and straight up run one after that.

Any other bigger folks been through this process before me? Give me all the advice you can.
