I'm so lost!

Guys - I am so lost. I've been stuck at the same weight for over three months now. And haven't lost any inches either. I eat fantastically during the week then it all goes to hell over the weekend. From Jan - April I was following a half marathon training program and now that I'm done with that I have no idea what to be doing in the gym.

Can anyone help me?

According to my doctor the thing that we should all be doing in the gym is sweating.... A very simple measurement for sure but it seems to work for me. I personally alternate every other day between cardio and weight circuit training (1 hour, 2 sets of 10 reps on about 20 different machines and a little bit of free weight work). On the off day I do 300 ab reps (minimum of 150 sit ups) and then work on the elliptical for one hour. Now that I am running the C25K app (way to easy for a marathoner) I spend some of my cardio mornings either at the local HS track or on the road for an hour. I do not take days off as I consider the cardio days to be my rest days. Best of luck.

You know I feel you there. We've discussed this before. I've been stuck at this weight since December! I'm SO ready to be over this. If I can at least kick 5lbs to the curb I'll feel like I'm getting somewhere!

WE can do this girl! :)

    Hey :)
I just had a quick look at your diary, and the first thing I would suggest would be to start logging properly again, everything, even the 'bad' weekend stuff. Knowledge is power!
And I don't think you've got a lot left to lose (great loss so far btw!) so I would be setting your weight loss goals to 0.5lbs a week so you're getting a good whack of calories in to help you keep going and not losing heart. If you concentrate on your weekly target as well, that should help balance things out if you have a heavier than normal day or two. Also, personally, I would ditch the meal replacement shakes and have actual food.
In terms of exercise, I personally really enjoy my zumba and bokwa classes, if you haven't done it, give it a go!

And total kudos for the half marathon, that is very impressive! Remember you've done a great job so far.

Well, if you're letting it all "[go] to hell over the weekend," that's probably the reason you haven't lost weight, right? Log everything, and follow a basic cardio and strength training program.

You are the classical binge eater. Looking at your diary you eat around 1200 calories a day during the week, then binge on the weekend. Give this a read, its about a woman who stayed obese eating 700 calories during the week, then binging on the weekend:

    You are KILLING your metabolism.

Go to fat2fitradio.com or fitnessfrog.com. Find your BMR and TDEE for your activity level. Eat that EVERY day. Start strength training and cut back on the cardio. Since I have been doing this I have lost 9 lbs and 3% body fat AND I eat 2400-2700 calories a day. You are welcome to friend or message me if you have questions

    I'm 5'6' and go between 145-150.

I eat around 1200 calories/day unless it's the weekend - when I lose my resistance to temptation.

You can't train for a marathon and eat 1200 calories. You burn a ton of calories and you are running on empty, thence your body fighting to preserve calories.

You estimated BMR is 1477, you are fairly active. So your Caloric Needs should be around

    CN = (1477 * 1.55) *.8 = 1831

I would put you around 1850 calories a day to start. If you don't see weight loss, I would add another 200-300 calories a day. This would include exercise so you don't have to eat back exercise calories.

Plugging in your numbers, your TDEE for MODERATE (3-5 hours of exercise a week) activity is 2279. Since you don't have much to lose, I would say a 15% cut would get you there, putting you at 1937. So you should eat 1937 calories a day. If you have been at 1200 or below for a LONG time, I would suggest you eat at 2279 for 3-6 weeks then take the cut. You need to re-feed your body and you may gain SOME weight (3-5lbs is normal) in the process. Once you start your cut, you will see amazing results.
  • Have you tried squeezing 2 lemons into 2 pints of water add a couple of sweetner then drink it after each meal (a glass not the whole 2 pints at once). I don this on Friday & Saturday and managed to lose 3lbs and that is without exercising cause I was unable to this week
