Diet Soda... Kinda sketchy?

I quit drinking soda when I was about 13. But now I'm starting to drink diet pepsi and diet 7up, zero calories, zero carbs, zero.. anything... These carbonated drinks taste great and make me feel very FULL. But how are they for my health? I know they contain aspartame which is known to cause migraines if you are prone to them, which I am, so I'm already sketchy about drinking too much. But is there any downside to drinking these empty diet sodas?

Just wondering why you would start up a habit that you have been doing without for so long? I mean why bother. Find something else to drink. If you are prone to migraines and have been told that the aspertame causes it then stay away.

Most probably not good for you.....but does it stop me from drinking it?!?! NO:drinker: !!!! Everything in moderation. I limit myself to one can of diet soda a day. It's a nice treat in the middle of my day. And contrary to what anyone else says FOR ME...it does not cause me to crave more sweets, gain weight or give me migraines.

Yah! Fir me it is sufficient when I am craving sweets, and I don't even drink that much of it. I took one can to work today for the first time. Like I said, I find it very filling, and water gets VERY boring after a while!

Stay a way from the diet drinks!!!!! Anything with ASPARTAME as a sweetner is DANGEROUS. Check out anything that says "Sugar Free" if it has aspartame in it, don't do it!! Aspartame is in Nutra Sweet, Equal, and Spoonful (Not Spenda). When the temperature of this sweetnener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol converts to Formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics, amoung other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. Many people have been misdiagnosed with illnesses that turned out to be Aspartame poison.

Some cases that it applies to are: tinnitus and Fibromyalgia, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in legs, cramps, vertigo, Dizziness, Headaches, and joint pain. It can cause unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss.

The thing about diet drinks is they are more likely to make you gain weight than loose it, because they are chemically altered, multiple Sodium (salt) and aspartame containing product that actually makes you CRAVE CARBOHYDRATES. These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is used primarily to preserve "tissue specimens". We do not need that in our bodies.

Check in to this more it is frightening.

    From a diabetes website:

"According to data presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference in 2011, researchers studied 2,564 participants and found those who drank diet soda every day were at a 48% higher risk of having a stroke or other vascular incident than those who didn’t drink it at all."

Alright, I'm convinced! Bye-bye diet soda!

In the meantime... what other drink tastes great and has no calories? ;)
