I am newer to the site and have a quick question that I hope someone can answer for me. The calorie goal is set at 1200 for me but when I check the BMR is says much higher. Which one are you suppose to go after as the ideal target for the day but still lose weight?

And also, if you exercise and additional calories are added in to use, are you suppose to use that new calorie goal or still stick to my 1200?

any help is appreciated.

Thanks much!

well I guess the question is are you trying to change your life or just lose for the short term? It has been suggested that you eat at least you BMR. You can manually set this. Also eat back your calories. If you are cutting too many calories then you won't have much energy for working out. I am sure that there are people that can explain it better.

...change life and I have already incorporated better eating habits but I think much was portion size. So this site does work for that very well to see how many calories are in a portion. just want to make sure I am doing it right since I know you dont end up losing if you are not eating enough also.

Check out this topic "really frickin hungry" http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/620212-really-frickin-hungry

They just had a whole discussion about this- your BMR, energy and calories needed to consume. It was very informative to me

WOW - that has a lot of info - thanks for that! I should probably pay more attention to finding that middle spot for me also.

that's what I'm going to start doing, too. I have been mildly successful but hoping with some tweaking it will be highly successful :)
