Losing the Boyfriend Weight

I'm 25 and am on a quest to lose 10 pounds. I moved in with my boyfriend about 2 years ago...let's just say I have discovered how tough it is to stick to nutrition when you eat with a guy, haha. He can eat fast food all he wants without giving the calories a second thought-but one meal of mcnuggets and big macs and i can't fit into my jeans. While 10 pounds over 2 years isn't necessarily bad, I wanted to change it before the 10 turned into 20-etc.

I know 10 pounds doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but I'm only 5'2'' so 10 pounds can be pretty significant. I also battled weight issues when I was younger, so for those of you out there that can relate you know how the fear of weight gain can hang over your head and cause you to panic sometimes.

I'm doing well so far with diet and exercise-I've lost 7.5 pounds so far. I love this site but have been afraid to post until now but now I am looking for others who have similar experiences, tips, or need encouragement themselves. I love recipes and swapping them so let me know if you have any good ones!!!

Woo, you're close already! Good for you! I'm 25 (almost 26, sigh,) and looking to drop 10 lbs as well. Tell me your secrets! :P

i completely hear you. this just happened to me starting in february. my boyfriend moved in and next thing you know i can't fit in my jeans anymore. i was overweight to begin with, don't get me wrong, but adding an extra 15+ pounds because men can apparently eat ANYTHING and not suffer any consequences, didn't help matters. it's going to be tough to avoid the foods he eats (that i totally crave) but i'm going to do my best.

you seem to be doing well so far so keep it up!

I have the opposite problem, I gained weight when my boyfriend (now husband) moved to a different state! But he does eat way more crap than I do. I would definitely be gaining and not losing right now if I ate what he eats! Feel free to add me for support.

First, congrats on the weight loss so far!

Second, I was 50 pounds lighter than I am now when I moved in with my b/f. He can eat whatever he wants and he burns it off. I wont make 2 meals so I eat the part of the meals that are ok for me. If we have spaghetti and meat sauce, I will have the meat sauce only. I will fill up on other things if I need to. It can be done. Its not always easy but if it were neither of us would be here. :)
  • as hard as it is portion control is a big key to it. i also realized that we make a large part of our meals carbs-and because i hate the idea of a no carb diet, i try to only consume healthy ones and eliminate unnecessary carbs. so when he has rice or a baked potato-i try to have salad or some steamed veggies along with the main item. sometimes i make three different sides of veggies just so i feel like im eating more-even though each one is so low in calories. no butter or oil either....i love that i cant believe its not butter spray though!

if i must have carbs-cause we all have those days, lol-ill make a couple of the baby red potatoes instead of a whole baked potato, or i stick to one serving of pasta if we make italian.

i know one way ive gone wrong in the past is wanting a quick fix. but no matter how much weight you want or need to lose, the concept doesn't change from calories in versus calories out. it's a slow process, but it works. this site definitely helps me stick to it.
