You all look great! Im 5'3" and around 155... I started at 167, but I want to get down to a fit (as opposed to skinny) 130. You all are giving me hope! I know its not going to happen overnight, but it can get discouraging sometimes. This is exactly what I needed :flowerforyou:

I never really liked this picture of myself in 2010, but my boyfriend is amazing. (probably around my high weight, 215)

I'm 5' 3" and started at like 150. My goal is 125-130 ish. I know that I'm a size 5 at 130 and and I'm fairly muscular so I don't think i'd go lower than 125 unless I get there and still feel fat.

You look fantastic as is! I am 5'3" tall and currently weigh 124 (from 151). I have a 22 year old daughter who is also 5'3" and her normal weight was around 118 pounds and she looked very healthy and very fit. For some reason, she decided she needed to lose weight and got down to about 105 pounds. At 105, she thought she looked great but to us on the outside, her skin was pale, she developed dark circles under her eyes, her veins in her arms, hands and even forehead all became pronounced and you could clearly see the blue color of those veins, she looked "hollow" and "skeletal". It's interesting that just a few pounds can totally change your appearance from healthy to sickly but I watched it happen with my own child. She has since realized that she was too thin and is back to about 117 and looks fantastic.

As for me, I am at a point now with my weight where I'm starting to see some of the same effects of my weight loss as I did with my daughter (dark circles, etc). My focus is changing to toning, not so much losing more pounds. At 124 pounds (5' 3") I look healthy. After all this hard work, the last thing I want is for people to look at me and think my weight loss is due to illness ... I want them to look at me and think my weight loss is due to changing to a healthier lifestyle.

Be flexible on your goal weight. Listen to other MFP's and listen to their concerns. It's how you look to others, to yourself and how you feel physically that matters. I think you look beautiful where you are now. I would do as other MFP's have suggested and re-evaluate your goal weight. Consider focusing on toning rather than focusing on the scale. These are just my personal opinions and recommendations. Remember, this is your journey ... not mine and not anyone else's. You control your body's destiny. And, I'll say it again... I think you look fabulous right now and I commend you on your success thus far!

I'm 5'3" and 124 lbs, 23% body fat. I'm wondering how you calculated your goal weight? Is it based on a specific body fat %? I would be more concerned with getting to a body fat goal than a weight. For instance, if I was 19% bodyfat, I'd look very lean but I would still weigh 119 lbs.

I would look ill at 105 lbs, not to mention how hard that would be. I have vacillated between 124-120 lbs for a year, trying to break below that level would require hours of strength training and a super clean diet, 7 days a week. I like to socialise and eat out once in a while, and I can only go to the gym 4 days/week, so it is not realistic that I will ever get below 120 lbs without more time to train and more commitment to eat clean.

One of my MFP friends is a figure competitor, she is 5'2" and when she was onstage competing, her weight was 112 lbs and 12% bodyfat. And she spent 2-3 hours a day working out to get in this shape!

Here's a photo of me at around 122 lbs:

I think this is a wise and informed reply. I'm the same height as you and even as a teenager (marathon runner and swimmer) my lowest was 115 lbs. I know it's hard but try not to fixate on a number on the scale and see where clean eating a regular exercise takes you.

I am 5'3" and started at 155. I'm currently at 142. My mini goal is 134 (my marriage weight). My DREAM goal is 125. Not sure if I'll ever make the 125. As it is, people do not believe I started out as 155 and at 142 they can't believe I weigh that much. I have always been "sporty". I have played basketball, volleyball and softball. I have a lot of muscle in my legs so therefore I do not think I will ever get down past the 125 mark and look healthy and not "ill". I've been told my weight now and BMI is still "overweight" but some would argue that with me. It has a lot to do with what you feel comfortable with. I'm happier now than I was at 155 of course and I look thinner. Anything else now to me is a plus and a step in the right direction. Do I think I need to be 129 to be at a "healthy" weight? NO. I think I look and feel "healthy" now. :o) So don't let someone who doesn't know you, your body and your situation tell you what your healthy weight is...it has a lot to do with you and how you feel about your weight. :o)

I'm 5'3 and 100lbs. I think every body is built differently. For me, 100lbs is an easy weight to maintain. I eat 5 meals a day and I never feel hungry. And those meals aren't usually salads (sorry, but I think salads can really zap the joy out of life). I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, sure, but I don't think of myself as on a 'diet.' I eat dessert from time to time and drink moderately. I eat pasta and cheese in moderation. In general, I would say that I eat 'like a normal person.'

100lbs for my height is clearly on the underweight category of the BMI scale; however, that doesn't bother me at all--nor am I any less healthy for it. BMI is not an accurate measure of physical fitness or health--and it's certainly never been an accurate predictor for my ethnicity. I exercise and lift weights. The fact that I'm not five or ten pounds heavier is not, in my mind, evidence that I'm incapable of performing exercises or that I'm starving myself (after all, isn't that the general definition of 'not fit'--someone who doesn't eat or exercise properly?). In my mind, as long as I'm choosing to eat healthy foods and challenging myself physically, then the number on the scale doesn't matter. I don't think I would care if I was 95lbs, as long as it didn't get in the way of me eating well and being active. It's discouraging to hear people criticize weight while disregarding the possibility that a person can be perfectly healthy, net 1400-1500 calories, train hard, but just happen to be less than 105lbs. After all, this is supposed to be a site that reinforces and rewards healthy habits--NOT weights or shapes or sizes that we happen to idealize.

I'm 5'3" and my heaviest 153. I'm down 2 lbs in a week just by counting calories and stepping up exercise. I'm going to try and get back down to 125 by Christmas. That's a pound a week. Good luck to you!
