I have seen a number of people on MFP who have Fitbits. Are they worth buying and why?

Speaking for myself, until I had a fitbit, I never realized how little I moved... I can say my weightloss really took off when I got my fitbit, looking at my graph and seeing all the barely actives really got to me, I found myself up moving around more. Even if I was doing something that couldn't be tracked by the fit bit (exercise bike), it still knows I am being active, and my flower still grows! It also gave me a better idea of just how little I slept, my body can't fully recover from my workouts if I don't sleep! I am surprised by how accurate it is in my steps and my sleeping pattern.
So my answer to your question is, if you have a problem with getting up and getting moving, then I think, yes! It is well worth it! You can see just how much you need to get your bum moving!
If you are already pretty active, and just want to know how many steps you take in a day, save your money and get a cheap pedometer..
Another thing that is pretty cool is I also have an account on earned it .com, it syncs with my fitbit, and I get free things for working out! Like that too!0
