I eat Activia yogurt twice a day. I know those Jamie Lee Curtis commercials are really corny :blushing: but it seems to help a lot!

Take magnesium it was recommended to me by a doctor. It also helps regulate cravings for sweets and with reducing leg cramps when I work out. I take one pill every night of Nature Made high potency Magnesium 400 mg in the gel capsule. It really works!!!!!!!!

Watch your fiber. Aim for 25-30g per day. You can get fiber in fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans and legumes.

I was having the same issue for a little while - it sucked. :(

I agree with most of the previous comments and I myself added Fiber Supplements into the mix. It didn't work immediately but now i seem to be fairly regular.

Coffee will help you poop, too. Don't know why, but it makes you regular.

FIBER and water. Eat lots of high fiber foods, which include bananas, prunes, peanut butter, whole grain breads, green beans, dried beans like navy beans, pinto beans etc. Also make sure you drink lots of water.

    1. Make sure you are getting enough fat in your diet.
    2. Coffee
    3. Fiber (doesn't work for me, but I hear it works for others)
    4. There is some kind of tea to help move things along that is pretty popular too.

Prunes. I eat 5 to 7 a day as a snack when I'm having trouble. Water and fiber and exercise are all excellent, but sometimes my system still gets off and I don't go, so I'll eat prunes. I enjoy them anyway, so it's a win-win for me. :)
  • 1 tblspn of flax seeds every day - they can be added to yogurt, oatmeal, etc.
  • Since I took antibiotics about a month ago I have had problems in that department. Along with what others have suggested, I also added accuflora (probiotic) supplement to my daily routine. I notice when I forget to take it I have more problems than when I take it twice daily. It seems to help!

Fiber from natural sources and you can also supplement that with metamucil capsules or powder. Flax is another good source of fiber that also provides your Omega 3 fatty acids. If you are taking a diet that is high in protein, it is actually recommended by lots of sports nutritionists that you supplement your fiber. This helps to ensure that your body gets everything out of your protein and less goes to "waste". Additionally, LOT OF WATER.

Ahh, what a lovely topic to start the day off with. Potty talk. LOL

Apple juice has almost no fibre in it. Cloudy apple juice has some, but really you're better off just eating the apples whole.
Edited to add: everything else is good advice though :)

Lots of water is key, but for me, I also have to take stool softeners (3 tablets) every night and have been for probably 2 years. I have had issues with this most of my adult life and tried anything from metamucil, fiber gummies (they work pretty well too), fiber tabs, detoxes with colon cleanse, and I even used to take a shot of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar every morning for about a year. Nothing like a shot of vinegar to wake you up first thing! Good luck; I feel for you.

Fiber is the key for me. I take Metamucil. But if you need immediate results try a gentle laxative tea

    Drink a lot of water.
A friend of mine suggested drinking half your body weight in ounces. Try it for three days and I bet you will poop more!
