kcal vs calorie...

I got a new pedometor that measure in kcal but the number is way lower than the number of calories I burned on machine or in an aerobics class. Can someone please explain the difference...if there is one. Thanks!

both the same. the problem is it's very difficult to get an accurate measurement of calories burned. gym machines are notoriously inaccurate.

the most accurate you can get is by using a heart rate monitor, i believe.

just fyi, KCAL is Kilocalories. These are what you burn. They are 1000 calories each. If you burn 100 KCAL in a 15 minute walk, that's 100,000 calories.

KCAL is usually called 'Calories' for simplicity.
