Today is 15 weeks since I started my journey to 145 lbs lost (though my plan is to lose 100 in a year and I think it might take me the rest of the next year to lose the other 45).

And I am down 30 lbs, have lost 6 inches around my waist, 4.5 around my hips and I feel fan-flipping-tastic!

People are starting to notice.. I own two pairs of jeans for the first time in over 5 years and I can actually breathe in them (in fact, they are both becoming too loose). Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

This is the longest I have ever really stuck with this kind of commitment.. i'm amazed at how much my whole perspective has changed. I think I really am going to do it!

Just wanted to share :)

Thanks MFP!

Marci

    Congratulations Marci!!!

When I was at 183...I just knew it was going to be a long road! It has taken me years of simple but consistent effort. Hang in there!!!

The bottom line is that every decision you make along this journey will either make you healthy or un-healthy! So every day, choose healthy! 100# is a lofty goal! Let your goal motivate you but if you miss it do not be discouraged.

I started MFP in January and wanted to be at my goal weight by Christmas but in my heart I knew it really might take more like two years to reach that goal weight. It gets harder at the end but truly I am pleased with my progress and efforts and you have every right to be proud of yours!!

Another thought... A couple of years ago I was in the MD office for my kids and was talking with another mother. She was currently undergoing Chemo. She said that she believed that her cancer spread when she went on a crazy fanatical diet and lost a lot of weight very rapidly. Her thinking was that all of those toxins that were stored in her fatty liver were released in such large numbers that her body couldn't handle it. She said the slow but sure way is how to lose weight.

Even 1 # per week or 2# per month is amazing weight loss and the proof that our bodies are very forgiving and want to heal themselves!!

Congratulations on your amazing success!!! :flowerforyou: Focus on healthy more than the scales and enjoy all of the compliments and just plain feeling great!:drinker:

CONGRATULATIONS! :flowerforyou: You're doing a great job! :drinker:
You don't have to "think" that you will do it, you WILL do it!
When I first came to MFP, I never thought it'd work, because just like you, I'd only stick with a "diet" for just so long. :grumble: But once I started working with my numbers through better food choices and getting some exercise, the weight started coming off, and I realized that THIS TIME, I WOULD lose the weight that I wanted to! And I DID!
MFP worked for me because it's NOT a diet. I CAN have stuff that I love every once in awhile! I just need to "work" for it and 'behave" MOST of the time!

Thanks for the awesome advice, DeeDee!

I am doing this 100% the healthy way.. working with a personal trainer 2x per week, eating appropriately, etc.

Interestingly enough, being really honest with myself about what I need to lose is not overwhelming to me.. in fact, more motivating. We have a biggest loser competition that started at work, and although I joined for the fun and comraderie of it, I have no intentions of winning.. I need to stick to my 1-2 lb weight loss per week, not drop a bunch to win some silly contest. But it's fun to see it melting off!

And congrats to you and everyone on their success as well!

    Best,
    Marci

(It may take a couple of years, but in the scheme of things - that is in no time! )
