For various reasons I am thinking of cutting out cow's milk. I don't want to do soy milk either, so I guess I'm left with rice milk? Is there anything else? Goat's milk on my cereal?

Have you tried rice milk? Does it taste good?

I just drink skim cows mile with my cereal. I only use about 0.5 cups on my cereal for breakfast. When I do a heavy strength training workout at the gym I will drink a glass of skim milk instead of a protein shake.

Never had rice milk though. Soy milk isn't too bad either.

I have tried rice milk (although its been awhile). I remember it was watery to me. I could put it on things, but wouldn't be able to just drink it plain. Although I kind of feel that way about soy milk as well.

Goat's milk from a real dairy is sweet and delicious. You may have to go to a health food store to buy some and it's $7 a gallon. I am lactous intolerent and go between goat's milk and organic fat free or lactose free milk. If I buy fat free it doesn't seem to bother me as much.

    good luck.

Almond milk is delicious and high in protein. It is low in calories and lactose free.

I was going to suggest goat's milk as well. If you have an organic or all natural store near you (we have Earth Fare and Whole Foods here) go check out what they have.

I recently went off cow's milk. I tried soy milk & couldn't do it, then I tried rice milk. LOVE IT!
It's like watered down skim milk, and it's slightly sweet. It's terrific on cereal. Other options out there are almond milk & hemp milk.

  • Rice milk is really good. But it is a bit high in calories.
I enjoy Rice Dream's vanilla flavor.

agreed, vanilla rice milk is so yummy!!!!
  • I use almond milk for my protein shakes since it's low in calories. I've had home made almond milk which is better than what you can get in the stores though.

I don't think rice milk is high in calories. I had a bowl of rice crispies and rice milk for breakfast, it was only 165 calories total (1 cup cereal, 1/2 cup rice milk. The cereal was 104 cals). I think that's terrific for a low calorie meal.

The only cow's milk alternative I've tried and liked is Vanilla Almond Breeze. It's great on cereal.

I went to a festival yesterday and tried some almond milk (blue diamond, but I don't remember the flavor) and it was DELICIOUS! I'm hoping wal-mart sells it, going to get some today...

I just went to get some and was dismayed to see it only has 1 gram of protein...so I got regular fat free milk instead :noway:

    X2.

I've had both natural, vanilla, and chocolate almond milk on cereal. Not a problem at all. Taste great
