I am not really big to me, but according to my bmi I am obese, really I wear a size five, but that is what it says. I must admit although I wear a size five, the size fives does not fit me like they used to and it seems as if I my waist is getting bigger, I hate situps and I dont know how to lose this weight!!
I cant blame anyone because I absolutely love to eat. it is one of the:tongue: guilty pleasures of life. this journey is just begining and it is hard!!

If your picture is recent, then you are NOT obese. BMI is a very strange tool....I find it to be completely inaccurate....a man that is tall and very muscual (like a body builder) would be considered morbidly obese by his BMI.

If you do want to lose some though, esspecially around the tummy, cardio is the way to go. Sit up's and crunches will tighten the muscles underneathe, but to get rid of any fat you'll need cardio to burn the fat. Also, keep in mind that the less you have to lose, the harder it will be because your body likes to hang on to it. Good luck!

Also... how old are you?? I mean, I don't mean this to be rude but wearing a size 5 means you are wearing juniors clothes made for teenagers. Those type of clothes are made for people that are not fully-developed without the curves of a woman! A size 4/6 will fit very differently to an adult woman than a size 5/7.

Don't get so caught up on a numbers, BMIs, etc. Food is not the enemy. Having self control and a bit of confidence sounds like all you need.
  • I am a size 5 too and when I was a size 7 my BMI said I was overweight. I weighed 160 pounds, trust me i didn't look overweight. You don't either, don't get caught up in the numbers

Are you in the US or is that a size 5 in another country? They all seem to do it differently and it's very confusing!

Food is not the enemy! Food is the vital fuel you need to survive - laziness and ignorance are the enemies. Understand how your body works, and work to keep things running smoothly. Thats my goal, at least..

  • Thanks for the advice, but I have enough self confidence just realizing I let myself go. maybe I should have reworded it, "The Food I eat is the enemy", not food in general. and FYI 4/6 fits me just the same that a size 5 does its the same range. and another thing, teenagers and adults can very well be shaped the same, these days. and even though you said you didnt mean to be rude, yeah that was kind of rude so honestly this is a motivational website, If you do not have anything encouraging to say, then please refrain from saying anything at all, as to everyone else, I appreciate the feedback thanks!!
  • i am obese and my mom told me that i keep ganing wight . she told me to walk about a mile a day, and to walk the dogs ;so i listened to her and lost 5 pounds:love: i was so  that i almost screamed. if you do those things everyday you will lose about 30 pounds a week.

I don't think her post was rude, and it seemed to me she WAS encouraging you. A size 4/6 absolutely fits differently than a size 5 (in mainstream sizing anyhow). My 14 year old daughter is curvy for her age, but doesn't look right in a pair of regularly sized jeans- the junior sizes fit her much better.
  • I thought it was rude, and Im not talking about anyone else's body. im talking about my own.
a size five fits me the same that a 4/6 fits me. it may be a different for everyone else but I am talking about myself.

Whoa, whoa.. I think you took my comment wrong...

Sorry if you took it as rude, but it was certainly not intended that way. This is a site of encouragement and I only intended to offer a few suggestions as another way to look the at situation you were explaining.

In MY experience a size 4/6 fits differently- so I just wanted to offer this suggestion as I could read that you were upset. My apologies if you took what I said out of context.
