I am still pretty new on here, and I started off with a great week. But due to my old shoes giving me huge blisters on my feet (I made them worse by running on them anyways... I put band-aids on them, but they ripped of the skin so now they are way worse), I haven't been able to run or anything because of the pain. It's been about a week, and the blisters are almost healed. I am just really nervous because I'm wondering if I can keep going. I know it sounds pathetic because I have barely even started. What keeps you going? What helps you to push on through the pain? Does it get easier?? I just really need some motivation! Summer is coming and I need the pounds off. I feel so depressed! Ahh! Help!

Moleskin and New Shoes. Get fitted at a runners' store.

The moleskin is at any pharmacy. You place it over/around the blister and it prevents further irritation. (I always take it on vacation with me.)

Baby steps. Don't try to push yourself too far at first. 45 min walks, then start to jog part of it and slowly you'll increase to running. When things start to get easier is when you'll know you've made a huge accomplishment and its time to take it up a notch or two!!

Whenever I run, I try to go just a tad bit further than I did my last run. even if its just .10 of a mile its still further. I can now run almost 4 miles when 6 months ago I had to stop after a mile to catch my breath.

I would suggest getting a good pair of shoes - they can make or break a workout!! Your workout/running shoes can be your best friend or your worst nightmare!!

Best of luck on your journey. YOU CAN DO IT!!

    1. Let your body HEAL.
    2. go get fitted for new shoes. Doesnt have to be at a running store, but it does help.
    3. In the time being, eat well, and walk.

What keeps me motivated? Not dying. Living a good quality of life. My kids. Not dying (again =). Seeing the sun rise over the ocean. Listening to head banger music my husband thinks is horrendous. Getting away from my troubles for the hour I am working out.

What keeps me motivated is life, really. I want to live happy, healthy, and with more energy. I want to do places, see things, be someone I like.

Wow!! Longer than I meant it to be.

Like whats already been mentioned let your body rest, dont push yourself to the point where your crippled for the next few days (which I lack in remembering), you can still do crunches or weights or jump rope without shoes! best of luck!
