Lol, I was wondering that too so I Googled it and apparently it is to keep a post at the top of the list. As in bump it up to the top, so that more people see it.

it means they want to keep the topic on the recent message boards, if no one comments it after a few minutes it will not be seen, they say bump to bump it back up to the top of the board

A lot of people will "bump" a thread and read it later. If you "bump" it will be in your recent posts so it's easier for you to find later

When someone comments on a topic it goes back to the top of the list under most recent, at least it is suppose to mean that "bump to top".
However, a lot of people on this site use it as a bookmark so they can go back and read it later under "my topics".

I use it to bookmark it to my profile page so I can go back and read it later. It may be that I don't have time to read it at the present or it's information I want to refer to down the road.

Being that you posted on here, I assume you have access to the internet.

If you would have taken 5 seconds to search the word "bump" on Google, you would see that the SECOND results says "BUMP to bring up somebody's post typically by posting the word "bump" on a message board ". Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

First off you could of saved yourself a few seconds by not being rude, and maybe used those seconds to look up some ways to be kind. Secondly, "bump" on this site is not used correctly 9 time of 10.

Like everyone said, It will move the topic up. Also I use it to put in my "my topic" category for later... but I have noticed it doesn't always keep it there... at least not forever. I have a million things I have "bumped" to read later, and now they are gone :(

"bumps" are annoying, they eat up page...

Evernote webclipper is my "Bump" I can save it to a folder (Health & Fitness) and read later or go back to the spot where I did the "clip". Evernote is free. It was my BFF site before I fully discovered MFP. :-)
