Mental Stages of Weight Loss

Hello!
I am new to this site. My friend has lost almost 80lbs (wow!) and he recommended that I visit this site. I'll use another post to tell you my story, but I have a question.
Do you know of a good book or article I can read on the mental stages of weight loss? I'm curious because as I go through this journey, I've experienced a lot of different emotions (anger, happiness, proud, self pity, etc.) and I think that if I am better informed on the subject, I can make more sense of it.
At the moment, I'm in a place where I understand there are certain things (favorite things) that I should not eat; however, I see it as a punishment instead of the realization that there are better choices to be made.
Any recommendations on the subject will be much appreciated!

No book recs, sorry, but I wanted to say I have been shocked at how emotional this has been for me. It has drug up everything from previous disordered eating in my past to grief from losses many years ago. I've worked through it all as it came along and can honestly say I am both mentally and physically healthier for it!
And i don't consider anything off limits! Work a reasonable portion in and savor it occasionally!0 -
It's very interesting to me that food has so much emotion attached to it. I'm happy to hear that you were able to work through it! It seems like there is a lot of support in these forums so I'm counting on it!0

I'm currently reading "Women, Food, and God" by Geneen Roth.
Now granted, I'm only 1/2 through - and it seems kinda hokey at times...the further I get into it, the more small "gems" I'm able to pull from it.
Happy reading!0
