Keifer..making your own??

Does anyone here make their own Keifer? I am just starting to phase out milk and phase in Keifer and have heard that it is fairly easy to make. I have talked to one person that I know who makes it but I still just a bit nervous. I was wondering if any of you have made it and what your experiences are.

I am totally sold on the benefits of Keifer vs. milk and am excited to start ingratiating it into my life. It is fairly expensive so making my own would be a great way to offset the high cost. Any help or tips would be wonderful!!

Isn't Kefir (the beverage) made from cow or goat's milk? I thought the Kefir "grains" used to make the beverage were a yeast/bacteria growth in granule form that gets mixed in with milk to ferment the milk, so it wouldn't be that you would be phasing out dairy milk as much as you'd be adding something to it to ferment it.

Yes, this is true. It's all about the fermenting process. It really is totally different from drinking milk and so much better for your body.

I have been making Kefir for years. If you like plain yogurt you will love it. If not, that's okay, I make Kefir berry protein shakes quite a bit!
