My Journey: Six months and 50 pounds

So it's been six months since I first joined here on MFP and I wanted to share my progress. In the 6 months, I have:

- I've lost 50 pounds and over 20" off of my body measurements.
- I've lost Over 7% body fat
- Have seen my BMI drop over 6 points
- Have seen my fitness and strength improve significantly
- Have seen my health issues go away, including my high-blood pressure, snoring/sleep apnea, etc.

For me, finding success has come from:

- Understanding & identifying my true WHY
- Focusing every day on eating the best I can, and being committed every day to doing so.
- Logging everything here on MFP, on the good days and the bad. Personal honesty matters.
- Cutting out the crap (i.e. sugars, processed foods, fast foods, etc.) and moving towards eating whole, natural foods
- Committed to getting daily exercise which started with walking, ellipticals, spinning and has progressed to doing P90X and Insanity
- I've tracked my progress using the data from my Bodymedia FIT and hear rate monitor, so I knew how many calories I was burning and should be eating

I've also gone from being completely sedentary for the last seven years to having my own fitness business, helping others recapture their own health and fitness, through challenges on and off this site.

Has it been easy? Not always, but knowing my WHY and knowing I was on a rapid downward track for my health has made staying on track and committed much easier. I've not posted pictures here but you can watch my video to see my story and my progress.

Thanks for letting me share my story.

Great job. I loved the video; it was very inspiring! My "exercise" journey seems similar to yours :) Been on and off the band wagon since 2008. But been completely on since Feb. 2010. Completed 2.5 rounds of P90X, trained for and ran a half marathon, and currently in the middle of Insanity! Thanks for the post...needed some inspiration today!

Thanks for your note. I'm glad I can give you an inspirational boost for the day. I am nearing the end I'd mynfirstbround on P90X and will be starting round 2 at the end of July. I love the changes I've seen from it.... Not just physically but emotionally too.

    Ashley,

Thank you so much. The pleasure has been all mine... I've loved being a part of so many people's success stories and positive changes here on MFP. It really has been the friends that I've built here that have helped inspire me to become the person I am today. Five months ago, this life didn't exist.
