Hey all !
I am new to this site and was recommended by a friend. I am 23 and weight 199lbs. I have 2 little girls delivered via c-section. Was wondering if i have ANY hope to loose the weight? Do i have hope to tone? Do i have any hope to be myself again? HELP!
I know if you've had a c-section you know what skin I'm talking about loosing, right under your bellybutton, the HUGE muffin top you keep adding onto that now has no muscle !? UGH ... I feel so crappy about myself. On top of the muffin top I've gained everywhere else. Come on ladies! Let me know there is HOPE FOR ME.

Signed
a desperate chunky momma!! = )

Welcome to MFP! I've had 2 c-sections and yes, it's possible! Where I'm struggling the most it trying to engage my lower abdominal muscles. They're soooo weak. A healthy diet in a healthy caloric deficit will get rid of the fat. Exercise, preferably using weights or your body weight as resistance and a bit of cardio will help you get stronger and transform your body into what you'd like to see. Be sure to eat enough to fuel your workouts and you'll do beautifully!

I have had two c-sections as well. The first wasn't too bad and tightened up all on its own. With my second there is that little pouch. I call it a kangaroo pouch because it looks as if you could probably open it up and put another baby in there. It isn't all fat just some loose flesh *shudder*
They say the second time it takes more effort so I am try the cardio (Zumba) and old fashion crunches/situps and weights.

I wish I had that answer for you...I had six kids...three natural, three c-sections, so the "Pooch" on my stomach is very pronounced...I'm trying the "eat more to lose", and doing cardio, and 30 Day Shred, with the hopes that it will help. But like theartichoke said..my lower abs are sooooo weak. I just keep working it. Welcome to MFP. This is a great place to find "friends" and get support!!!

it is very possible but i think geans play a huge roll in it too. i myself had a c section and i will not get that flat belly back no matter how hard i try. It had gone down lots but will never be flat again. i'm ok with that as it still looks very different then before i started to loose weight.

I recently had 3 sections within 3.5 years and my stomach appears to be shrinking. I am doing a lot of cardio. It took me a while to gain some abdominal strength.

I had a c-section with twins (and a 90lb gain). My stomach is slowly tightening and toning up. It takes hard work, but it can be done.

I had a c-section, and after my c-section I noticed I gained weight in my belly, which I never had before.

I'm at 40+lbs loss now and my belly is nice and flat. I'm working on toning the abs!
    (I'm 5"7 and started at around 199/200lbs)

    THERE IS HOPE!

It's all going to depend on the person. I've had 2 c-sections and my skin there is NEVER going to be flat (too much excess) without surgery. However, my sister has had 3 c-sections and you can't even tell she's ever been pregnant (besides her scar) because her belly is so flat.

I had a c-section almost 4 years ago. I agree with the other, it takes time and hard work but it can be done. Be patient with yourself but put in the time and effort and you will see results. Good luck :)
  • I had my son via c section and I was able to get back into shape. I'm actually in better shape now than before I got preggers. I first noticed the belly bulge going away after walking a lot and then I added strength training. I think walking is one of the best exercises to get a flat belly.

Being that you are at a young age, your skin will go back to its normal state. As you get older, the less that will happen. Eating clean, lifting weights and cardio will do just fine. Some people have to have a mini-tummy tuck in order to get rid of loose skin and those who have had c-sects that leaves a lot of scar tissue as this was the case for me. Most people think it's fat, but when you have kids at an older age the skin doesn't want to go back the way it was which leaves you with loose skin.
    If that makes any sense.

I've had two c-sections and still have 37.5 pounds to go until I reach my goal...I've actually always had a "belly" but had a flat stomach before having kids. Honestly, I believe "flat abs" are more about genetics than anything, but you CAN lose the weight and get fit!! Feel free to add me, if you'd like!
