Broken Wrist - Any advice on how not to fall off the wagon

I have been on MFP for nearly 3 months. I have made some progress on my weight loss but significant progress on lifesyle changes. I feel for the first time in my many weight loss attempts that I can do it. This is largely in part to this websites forums and support network. Excercise is key for me and It took me over 2 months before excercise was not equated with torture in my mind. Starting over is the last thing i want to do. I am currently (pre break) cycling, running and doing the 30DS 6 days a week in various combinations.

So my question is in conjunction with keeping my food diary any advice on what excercise i could do to stay in the game.

By the way my broken wrist came the way of a spectacular nose dive over the handle bars of my bike when i slipped of the pedals in the rain. I am a little clumsy:sad:

Thanks in advance

I would keep doing the cycling and running. You can still do leg exercises even if you can't do push ups or weights because of your wrist.
  • That makes sense to me. I think i just needed to hear a separate opinion on it> Appreciate the response.

Yeah, maybe not cycling, unless you have access to a stationary bike.

I broke my wrist two years ago. They heal fast, so you could still walk, and I'll bet you can run in about a month. I went scuba diving three weeks after I broke mine...and it still hurt to pick up heavy stuff, but being back in the water was great. (I kinda refused a cast....it was the second time I broke my wrist.)

I've given up on bikes. As much as I love them, I kept getting injured. Gave mine away last summer. I'm also a klutz, apparently.

Give yourself a few days to start to heal. When I've broken bones (yup, used to happen quite often, not so much anymore) I was exhausted the first few days, and hungrier. I always attributed it to my body starting to heal.

After that, try walking or light running. Listen to your body and your wrist. Your body will tell you what is comfortable and what you can do. You will probably be able to do more and feel better week by week.
  • I am glad to hear the wrist healing process is on the fast side> despite walking into things and falling down regularly this is my first break.

I think i will schedule healthy living and sleeping and my 10, 000 steps until monday and then start seeing what else i can manage> I am pretty mad i have to miss out on golf and soccer, was just starting back.

Thanks everyone> I dont know what I did before I found this site, Oh yeah I was an unhealthy mess!
