I just joined 24Hr fitness. Yesterday I Thought that I could do the stairmaster for 30min. and was dying after 5. I could only work out for 40 min today because I was sore from yesterday. Have folled eating plan for last 2 days and trying to stay fgocused!!!! I just want to lose and stop playing with my weight. I been gaining/ losing and am stuck at about 225. Have lost 100 on my own before I joined my fitness pal, But now would like to get serious and lose down to 150. Anyhow any advice on ways to stay encoueaged and keep going to the gym would be helpful. Thanks

Start off slow. Your body needs to get used to exercising on a schedule. I just got back from a long vacation, did my workouts like I used to, and now my body hates me. I started off too strong after coming back, so it's similar to starting over again. You have to pace yourself. Set goals and keep on improving.

If you don't like the pain and muscle soreness then the best thing to do is keep going. Working those muscles again will get work the pain out and you'll feel better afterward. As you exercise more, post-workout soreness becomes much less of a factor. If you stop, the soreness takes days to go away and resuming is tough because you have to go through it all over again.

If you can only do the stairmaster for 5 minutes then do it for 5 minutes for a couple days, then up it to 6 or 7 for a couple days, work it up slowly - before you know it you'll be able to do 30 min w/no problem!

Start low and go slow. I've read the stat that weight loss is 80-90% what you eat and only 10-20% exercise/activity. If I felt really sore and miserable after a workout (the kind of misery you feel when it's hard to lower yourself onto a toilet), I wouldn't care what I ate either. Don't sacrifice the diet for the workout, just take it easier.

You are defiantly on the right track! Just always make sure to stretch before and after. And rest for a day.

hang in there...it will get better, and faster than you will beleive. Being a little sore at first is very normal, and means that you actually DID something! Good for you! Hang in there...you'll get stronger and leaner.
