Tips and tricks for avoiding snacking.

My mother just gave me some advice tonight to help from unhealthy snacking and I was wondering if anyone has ever tried it. She said that when you feel like munching down on something unhealthy or just in general, to brush your teeth. This signals to the body that it has just finished eating and your craving will go away.
Has anyone heard of this or tried it before?
What are other things you've heard to keep you from stuffing your face?

It works for me...that and gargling with mouthwash
Also meditation helps..simply counting backwards from 100 or 500 if the snack craving is intense.0 -
I've tried brushing my teeth as well
It works a little bit but when you have a very, very strong craving, I know it can be hard.
One thing I did was write myself a letter. I wrote myself a very detailed, long letter on the reasons I am doing this.
When I get a craving, I read the letter. That usually helps me reevaluate why sticking to my goals is better than giving in to some quick temptation.
Also, make a playlist of songs that make you feel good That helps me keep my mind off the snacking temptation!0 -
I've heard this, but it makes no sense to me. I just budget for snacks.0

Another thing I have discovered is to use either mouth spray or a stick of gum. A large drink of water can help also. Often I think I may be hungry, when really I am just thirsty.0

Heard of brushing and from the number of people I've heard it I assume that it does work.
I myself just keep the bad eats out of home so my lazy butt will have to go out to buy something if I want it. And if a bag of cheeto can get me out of my home to go get it, then I REALLY want that bag of cheeto and I just workout a bit extra to burn off the extra calories
Fruits are an excellent source of keeping away a sweet tooth. Nowadays its sweet corn season so you can easily get some fresh and cheap corn that you can cook real quick on the oven flame and bunch on it. They're so sweet and delicious!0
