Question about cycling calories

I've started cycling along a nearby river every day. Not so far yet - the first bridge and home. It's sort of a slow-medium pace.
When I went to add cycling calories for the 30 minutes I spent there and back, I chose the slowest level, which was, "bicycling, <10 mph, leisure..." and was surprised to see that 30 minutes of that exercise was a whopping 243 calories.
Is it calculating that based on my weight?
Thanks,
doug

The MFP burned calories thing is pretty high. I either wear a HRM monitor or input the cals of 70% for swimming and such activities where I don't wear one .0

I see from comparing with another exercise calculator that it does depend on weight. W = F x D after all. So it takes more calories to lug my fat body along. Good for the diet though.
I would like to log my exercise calories, but not have them all added to remaining calories I can eat. I'm thinking maybe allocating just 1/2 the calories to that, because I don't want to overeat. I want to emphasize weight loss. Is there a way of doing that?
Thanks,
