Going to start the Soup Diet today and was wondering if its worked out for anybody??
I'm not doing the cabbage soup diet but I will be eating 1 serving of low sodium soup for lunch and dinner.
Breakfast I'm going to eat a protein meal or shake.

I have done soup diets several times in the past. Sure, you'll lose weight but the weight comes right back as soon as you stop. Not the healthiest way to lose weight.0

Yes and no.
Last year I had a lot of stomach pain after eating, turned out to be my gallbladder. For several reasons I didn't get it looked at for about 3 mths. The last 2 months of that 3 months all I could eat was a small amount of chicken noodle soup a day. I literally starved myself. Negative reinforcement at its best... eat = pain = don't eat.
Result was I lost 40lbs in 2 months. BAD part was, I was just skinny fat. I lost muscle as well as fat. I looked great in clothes (down to a size 2) but naked, not so great. Flabby.. urgh.
SO, it did work for me, but I was eating to little.
I think no matter what you chose to eat as long as you keep the calories low enough you will lose weight...

Had I known years ago that I could eat food and still lose weight, I would had never done this sort of diet and tortured myself.0

I wouldn't say eating soup all the time is the best way to lose weight...However, if the sodium content is low and full of good veggies and protein soup can be a great addition to a balanced diet. It's low calorie and it's filling. If you want to be healthy and lose weight, I suggest eating a large variety of different and healthful foods. Eat soup and maybe a salad or turkey sandwich for lunch a few days a week if you like, and eat dinner nomally making sure to include vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains. You could possibly burn yourself out by eating the same thing over and over.0

I have braces, so I eat soup a lot ... Does that count? When I was on WW soup was the only way to work around the braces after adjustments and ensure I was within my calorie (point) limits.
I found that spicy soups keep me fuller, longer! Skinnytaste has a bunch of delicious soups (http://www.skinnytaste.com/) that are low-calorie. I recommend cooking 6-8 servings at once, freezing and then thawing when you want to eat them. My favorite is a turkey taco soup... It was about 4 pts per serving? I think it's 50 or 75 calories per point ... so something like 200-250 calories a serving. It had lean (99/1) turkey, some kind of bean (kidney or pinto), some kind of veggie (summer squash was good), diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth (low sodium/fat), and I always added a lot of cajun spice and Tobasco sauce.
Sodium is hard with soups and you will bloat ... But I've found that making my own and adding the salt right before I eat it seems to help.0 -

Why do you want to do this?
It's a temporary fix. Weight will come back and you will end up "skinny fat" like another poster mentioned.
It's not a healthy thing to do for long term.0 -
Well I work out 3-4 days a week too for about an hour so I think I can get around the skinny fat cause I do a lot of weight training and cardio.
I'm just looking for something to curb my appetite since I've been eating bad foods lately. In order for my body to get used to not eating as much or overeating. Just looking to shed a couple of lbs.
I'm still going to incorporate a side of chicken or veggies along with the soup. Pretty much doing it to change my diet.

Diets like this don't address the emotional and physical problems of issues with food.There is no quick fix unfortunately and I can't imagine it being too fun either! Initially you may see some weight loss but you could with healthy eating and exercise too albeit a little slower,but much healthier in the long run.0

Just eating bad is something I do a lot. I love eating healthy too but eat fast food a lot so it doesn't really help.
Since everyone is against it....I'm just going to look at portion control and eating a balanced diet.0
