***On average, an obese person pays $1,429 in health care costs than normal-weight individuals
*** It has been estimated that in 2003 as much as $75 billion of the nation's public health costs was attributable to obesity
*** if U.S. obesity rates continue to increase as their current levels, obesity related spending i projected to increase to $343 billion in 2018 (that's more than the estimated GDP of Denmark)

Ok after seeing the first picture, I really didn't think I could read the rest of the article. The 7 "normal looking" silhouettes are about a third of the size of the 3 "obese" ones. That's not how it works. "Obese" people that I know look fairly normal and are a little bigger than average.

3 out of 10 people are NOT 500 pounds...

It really is amazing. Currently in my late 20s, but I see the meds my parents are on for weight related health issues and they cost a fortune. This plus the future healthcare costs that will be there if it doesn't change is enough to scare anyone into eating a salad!
