It has all the machines, and weights, as well as running various classes included in the price, including bootcamp, kettlebells, pilates and spinning.
I have thus far only done a lot of cycling, stationary bike and very brisk walking plus some strength exercises at home.
I am sort of wanting to get into running, but the cross trainers looked really fun too. I have COPD which means my lungs are impaired, and function at 67% rather than the usual 82% for my age and height. Hasn't stopped me being able to cycle for hours at a time, including hills.
What would people suggest I start off with at the gym, bearing in mind I want to be lean, energised, not too much muscle, and maintain my weight as close as possible ?

I like the different elipticals I feel I get the best workout I also like the stairclimber too. Just start out slow and gradually add time each time you work out. Good luck.0

Well....gaining muscle is the last of your worries, in fact...don't even think about it. As for exercises, look for things that you can't readily do outside of the gym, try the elliptical on various settings....you're built for running, like whippet....may suit you to a tee....start of slow with intervals and build from there. Pilates classes are good, flexibility and strength, as apposed to bulk strength of straight weight training.....Kettle bell work is good functional work and really helps prevent silly injuries in the real world.....
so overall, try lots of different things, give them all at least 3 weeks and see which ones you like best...0 -
i would look into some different weight lifting routines... that's pretty much the only thing I use the gym for. That and the pool. I have no interest in the cardio equipment. Can you say "boooring" ?0
