i had a bad day today ,
the reason was that i not sleep at all during the night , and felt a bit ill

when im ill i eay more because i know what its like to be sick on an empty belly
i manageged to get to the gym later on to do weights , but no cardio ,
and i eaten a lot , lot more than i normally do , cause of ill, and being awake 36 hours

is there anything i can do to compinsate for this over the next few days or just write it off as on off thise days

I would write it off as just being one of those days... you were ill and tired, and being overtired tends to make people eat more anyway. Just get back on track, maybe do a little more exercise over the coming week, and move on. I would suggest.

just forget about it and get back on track. One bad day will not derail you.

Actually if you look at your weekly total, you didn't even go over.

1200 is very low for a male. Most women here are not on 1200 for weight loss. Just saying.

you can make it up the next over the next two days to keep the weekly total in check

That's a good point. It seems really low, and he doesn't have a whole lot to lose.

OP, also keep this in mind: even looking at your daily total only, you still ate less than what your maintenance calories would be. So even if you ate this amount every day you wouldn't gain. Definitely nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have days when i think i ate a whole lot and i feel like crap, but i don't gain weight. Don't be so hard on yourself. We all do it. You're doing great!

I agree with this person whose name doesn't appear when I quote them - darn it!!

As my nutritionist says, it most important to get back on your plan tomorrow. Do not let this derail you!!
I would encourage you to go to a nutritionist to learn if your goals (eating, losing, calories, exercise, etc.) are reasonable. She really helped me know what to aim for and is helping me not beat myself up for a bad day or two. :-) Best.

I off day doesn't negate all the good work you've done! Just get back on track tomorrow. I wouldn't do anything drastic!

    Keep at it!

It will all average out in the long run.

    Get some needed rest.

You need to lose the weight the same way you gained it: One day at a time.

Make sure you are getting the nutrition you need.
  • Like most of the others said, just move on and try better the next day.
    You'll be fine. (:

Yeah, up your daily intake somewhat. You won't suffer when you're ill so much or binge for any reason if your body is adequately fuelled. 1200 is insanely low - you're the same height as me and although you may be older, your 1200 is a 2300 calorie deficit a day to my maintenance. It won't do your arthritis any good for muscle and connective tissue to start breaking down.
