Diagnosed with PCOS, and dangerously close to being diabetic, my doctor told me I needed to lose weight or risk becoming diabetic very soon. That very day, 1/10/11, I started my weight loss journey. I was 247.9lbs. By 1/10/12 -- with diet & exercise -- I had lost 72lbs. Whats better? ALL of my labs were, for the first time in 5yrs, within the normal range.
I have plateaued since January, gaining and losing the same 5lbs over and over...and over -- but I don't intend on giving up. A few days ago my weight steadily started moving down. For the first time in months. Granted it's those same 5lbs, but maybe my body is sick of being the same weight for 5 months. Either way, no complaints! My January low was 174.9, this morning 178. I'm almost there. Not IF, but WHEN I hit 174.8 I will officially (hopefully) say this LONG plateau is broke!
This site has been monumental in my journey, and I plan on sticking with my MFP family for a long time to come!
**Edited to try to make pic smaller**

Congrats! I am finally getting my 6-month plateau to move. I had to increase my calories for like a month and have just recently cut them back to where I had been able to loose weight to begin with. Seems to be working so far (fingers crossed).
Great job and keep it up!0 -

Congrats so much, Thats a great amount to lose in a year, when it is so hard to lose weight with pcos. I to was diagonsed with pcos and i'm struggleing so much to lose the weight. I have only lost 5lbs and have been on mfp since april. Is there anything different from the normal diets or exercise that worked well for you. I get so disscouraged because i'm not seeing the results like anyone else. If you can share i would appreciate it thanks.0

Oh man, I have PCOS and have been on the diet and meds for about 8 months and hit a plateau about 2 or 3 months ago.. I have changed up my exercise routine and added strength training. I could be stuck here for months?
I also had a knee injury that required surgery in the middle of all of that and have recovered. That is when I added weights. UGH
I was down (no exercizing at all) for 2+ weeks, but considered it good I didn’t gain anything during that time.
I too am loosing and gaining the same 4 pounds back and forth. I did get 2 pounds below for a couple of days but that is long gone and Im back up..
I am kind of feeling discouraged but unwilling to give up. I am determined to keep going and not give up but to think I could be stuck here for months is daunting..
Great job on your work. I can’t see your pics here at work but just the amount you have lost is awesome!!0 -

First, thanks everyone!! Your encouragement means so much!
Honestly, there isn't anything I do that's out of the "norm"... I started with cutting junk (large portions of it) out of my diet, walking, wii fit+, and Jillian Michaels dvds. Now that its summer and I'm burned out on those, I changed it up to things I truly enjoy; such as swimming, yard work, and basketball.0
