What fitness level is recommended for this workout?
I'm thinking to sign up for it but I'm not sure whether I need to get into better shape before starting this program.

My advice would be to sign up for it, it is an amazing program. The workouts are divided into a 3 set "warmup" that leaves you SWEATING profusely, consisting of things like jumping jacks, high knees, jogging, and some others. The first part is about 10 minutes. Then, he has you "stretch" which is really a little bit of stretching and also some balance exercises. The hard part is really after the stretching is over which leaves about 20 minutes left for the last part of the workout. The third part is more cardio exercises in sets and a lot of strength training using your own body weight. I think no matter how in shape someone is, it would still be impossible to make it through the entire thing. I know people who made it through p90x and when they tried insanity, gave up on it but it really is an amazing workout. I would say get Insanity, do the best you can and build on it. When I started I couldnt make it through the warmup so I set that as my first goal. Then I would do a light jog through the rest of it and do whatever exercises I could, building each time I did it. I noticed a difference within a few days and felt amazing. The only thing to keep in mind is that it really helps you tone and build muscle and since you will be very sore and your muscles will be holding water to heal, don't get discouraged if the scale doesnt change right away. Just stick with it!!! Good Luck!!!0

^^ this. I've just completed month 1 & you will be amazed at how quickly you get better & stronger @ the workouts
All the way through Shaun T tells you to do what you can & if you remember this & take breaks when you need to you should be fine.0 -
Before I started Insanity (I'm starting week 2 tomorrow) I could run 7km without stopping, do 50 push-ups, 15 chin-ups, 50 bench dips and 50 sit-ups...............................I considered myself pretty fit!! But the workouts in Insanity are beyond that- I'm not too sure how much you can really prepare for it?!? Even after a week though I've noticed some significant changes in the amounts that I can do- I couldn't keep up to begin with, and had to just work at my own pace doing what I could- but now I can pretty much do everything required and barely have to stop anything!!
If I started again I'd do more squats and butt kicks before hand, as well as try and strengthen up my calves- thats what's slowing me down at the moment!! It'd be a good idea to be able to do a heap of push-ups as well- other than that you can't really prepare yourself for it!!
Even if you're super fit, you're always required to work to your maximum intensity, so everyone at every level feels screwed after the workouts!!
Good luck and dig deeper:)0 -
