Hangover tips???

I have cut back drinking since trying to start this diet. When I do drink it may be a "little" too much. When I'm hungover I normally run to greasy nasty food and soda! Does anyone have any healthy alternatives to this to fill that craving while hungover? I make my worst decisions then (hence me cutting back drinking).

sweating it out helps, but u can try cranberry juice, fruit smoothie with lots of vitamins, pho or drink 1-2 glasses of water every alcoholic beverage u have while your drinking, it helps u drink less booze and stay hydrated!0

yea yea i knew that would be the first comment. i used to drink a few glasses of wine 4-5 nights a week with my husband. Now I just drink one night a week. I havent been having more than 2 glasses but last night we went out for a friends birthday and I had a few more drinks than normal. This is why I ask. But believe me, I know not drinking is the true answer but i'm not willing to give up my vino completely!0

Huh. When I'm hungover (which is nearly never anymore), I usually stay away from food! But, seems like whatever reason you're craving fats and salt, perhaps? So, might try healthier versions of those things. Also, you are most likely dehydrated, so try to drink plenty of water. If you think about it, try to drink one or two glasses of water and take a couple aspirin BEFORE you go to bed. It can help tamp down hangover. The aspirin (or ibuprofen) for its anti-inflammatory properties. The water should be obvious.
Or, just skip the whole process by not drinking or by allowing yourself a two-drink minimum, for example.0 -

If you have a look at my diary a few weeks ago you will see why i stopped drinking this week.

A hangover is actually you dehydrated. Drink alot, alot of water before you go out and drink. You'll never have another hangover. (learned that thanks to my anatomy teacher)0

If you're craving fats then eat fats. Bacon and eggs are far from bad news... it's the cheap sausages, sugary bean sauce and oodles of fat that gets chemically removed from a vegetable (yes that is odd).
Try Bacon + poached or scrambled eggs. Personally I prefer a bowl of oatmeal with a spoon of natural peanut butter0 -

I, like you gave up my daily wine fix when I started my lifestyle change.
However I refuse to give up my Friday night out - I work hard all week and I need to let off steam. As you can see from my ticker, I've still been really successful so take no notice of the 'alcohol police' lol.
Consequently I almost always have a really bad hangover on a Saturday and crave white carbs/grease. I save calories up in the week for my friday blowout and keep a few back for feeding my hangover, I also try to make healthy snack choices.
Water and sleep are the only real cures.0 -
From what I've read, eating a greasy meal before drinking helps prevent a hangover, but does nothing post-hangover. I have really cut back on drinking since, as I've aged, hangovers hit me hard. But coconut water helps (if I drink it right before bed, my hangover doesn't seem so bad). My friend swears by a vitamin combo which includes B6 right before drinking. I usually want nothing to do with greasy food post-drinking, but I find that a fruit smoothie with spinach helps. And a lot of water. And maybe an ibuprofen.0

There is an electrolyte drink mix called Ultimo It is all natural and low calorie. I buy it at Whole Foods. Works wonders to rehydrate.0

My honest to god fix you up cure is:
1 banana
1 yoghurt
1 glass fresh OJ
1 lean protein
1 virgin mary (or bloody if you like)
Copious amounts of water and a little light exercise (dogwalking for example)
Now the banana and yoghurt can be mixed with protein powder and turned into some sort of milkshake if you like, but I prefer ticking them off the list individually.
I don't always stick to this cure, but try to at least get out of the house because if you stay on the sofa feeling sorry for yourself then the temptation to pig out is too great.0
