So I have been hard at this diet and exercise thing since last November and have been successful so far losing 35lbs. I am pretty much on the target weight that I was aiming for and am overall happy with my new appearence- EXCEPT for the excess fat still stored around my tummy area. I have had 3 children (2 pregnancys by section) so know I may have a fight to get a 6 pack but a flat tummy is achieveable right??!!

I have just completed insanity and am now working through p90x (only the exercise plans not the nutrition guides) and although I have been successful so far I am now wondering do I need to change my diet more to work off this belly fat? reduce carbs/ eat differently/ ?? I know its a harder area to work but what will work best. Program wise im happy im doing the right exercises as I am doing p90x as well as having a weight prog at the gym which was drawn up recently to reflect my weight loss and aim of toning/ definition.

Any advice/ ideas greatly appriecihated-..... Im a bit stuck on this and can read a million things from the web but what is best and or myth i dont know. THANK YOU. :-)

Other than getting surgery, there is no way to spot reduce where you are going to lose fat from. The first place that i lost fat from was from my face and then my legs and then my back, I'm only now starting to lose it around the mid section. Ultimately all you can do is continue to exercise and eat healthy, a combination of those two things over time will slow help your abs which are being covered by fat. Just keep up the hard work and dedication and you will reach your goal.

Running really helped me flatten my stomach.. i've always had the dreaded pooch.. well before kids, and of course after two c-sections.. but I began running, and the first thing that came off was my belly. I was surprised at how flat my stomach became. Ask other runners and they'll tell you the same.

Just continue staying in a caloric deficit and be extremely patient. It's just a matter of losing fat

Although you can't spot reduce, you can work your core with pilates/calisthenics. This paired with cardio and a clean diet should help melt off the fat and improve overall appearance. Having said that it takes patience, especially if its an area you are where you predisposed to storing fat. For women its usually either on the tummy, thighs or bum!
