How to stay active in an office?

I applied to a job that requires me to be on a chair for long hours... My body's accustomed in moving and standing the whole day and I rarely sit... And I immediately acquire pelvic pains if I sit for a long time... I also become tensed when sitting... Any advice as to how to stay on the move with a work full of sitting? I also don't want to accumulate fat on my stomach although I don't really accumulate it there.. I just want to prevent it from happening...

I'm a 21 year old girl... Currently at 120 pounds with a height of 5'5. I am actually thinking of turning vegan for good... I lost weight last uear and even gone to an underweight one... But because of my healthy changes I'm somewhat toned and I don't want to change it because of my future job. Thank you!! :)

I work in an office, and it is hard to stay active as it seems you're always chained to your desk! I try to go and walk to other departments in the building to speak to people instead of emailing, and going for walks at lunch helps. You could also see there are any exercise classes that are on during your lunch break at your company or at gyms nearby. Or start your own!

See if your workplace has a wellness plan. My workplace does so we each got assessed by a occupational therapist who recommended chairs, times to get up, exercises to do at your desk and all that. Or maybe you can get a treadmill desk!

I work in an office, and there are a few things you can do - take the stairs instead of the lift, and find excuses to walk around rather than phone or email people. You will have to be more careful about food, too - lots of people in my office bring in sweets or cakes and leave them lying around to share. Willpower is required!

Thank you! And yes, I'm already planning of what I'll eat when I'm in the office.. :) I just can't sit for long hours because I feel uneasy... I don't even feel comfortable... :/ when I'm taking a rest, I'm lying on my tummy. :)

Can you ask your employer to provide a different kind of chair for you? Would something like a kneel-chair help you? I've also heard of people replacing their desk chairs with yoga/gym balls to alleviate back & pelvis problems. Depending on what kind of work you're doing, it shouldn't be too difficult to organise things so you can stand up and move around every 20 minutes or so.

Download a timer for your desktop and every twenty minutes, make sure you get up.

When making phone calls, stand up at your desk, or stand on one leg to balance your weight.

Hand deliver files and folders. Go to another colleague's desk rather than making an in-office call.

They're all little things, but it is very important to keep your muscles active all day long any way you can.
