Greatest Movie of All Time, Regional Final Four!

(Intro from the initial thread:)

OK. Here's the deal. Being a little bored, being a movie nerd and having a little extra time, I've built a few brackets. The idea is to, eventually, crown the Greatest Movie of All Time. (Hence the thread title.)

First, these are the movies I happened to choose. Some good ones got left out. Some that you think are good aren't thought good by the masses or, more importantly, by me -- since, well, I made the bracket. And you may then disagree with the seedings, too. And that's fair. But just play along, if you're interested. Could be fun.

Reply on the thread with the seeds and names of your winners of each pairing. I'll let the first round go for a while, then add up the votes and post the winners/next round's pairings.

Not represented in this particular tournament are the 'smaller' genres, like war, western, documentary, etc. And, sorry international MFPers, I didn't go foreign, either. So consider this The Greatest (American) Movie of All Time Bracket Tourney, I suppose.

The four genre regions are Comedy, Action, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Drama/Thriller. Winners of each region will be determined, starting with Comedy, and then will pair off for the Final Four. Comedy will face Drama/Thriller, Action will meet Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

And to spark more discussion, feel free to give your reasons for some of your choices!

    ... the second choice was hard... I think I actually like Indy better, but for "greatest movie of all time" how can you beat Star Wars?!? (except maybe The Godfather, but, we all know what happened there...) :)

    I don't think the greatest movie of all time is any of these, personally. But, from the choices, these are my picks. I have never seen a Star Wars movie, so Indiana Jones wins that one, by default.

    Kinda hard to vote for or against a movie if you've never seen it. Seems like that would make it a no vote.

    The only exceptional movie on your list is The Shawshank Redemption and it wouldn't be on on my top 10 list, maybe not not even on my top 20 or 30 or 40. I do like it, though.

    Now that I think about it, I have to agree with Boweed. Although the entire "Star Wars' type of movie bores me to tears and I'm pretty sure I would hate it! lol Please remove my vote for Indiana Jones, as I have not seen Star Wars.

    I like all four of the movies, though they wouldn't be at the top for my personal greatest of all time. But, going with my favorites in the pairings:

    Raiders of the Lost Ark

    And since there wasn't any mention of animated films throughout the original 64 movies, I'll toss out some animated films: Akira, Toy Story 2, Snow White, Naussica, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Nightmare Before Christmas.
