One week down

I made it through the first week of this journey to health and wellness. I lost 3.6lbs and I attribute it to the information on this website and a new determination to finally get healthy and reach my goal weight...whatever that will be. Journaling really keeps you honest and accountable. And for the first time in a long while I exercised 6 days in a row. I'm taking a day off today to rest my knee but I will be back on the treadmill tomorrow morning.

I will need support along the way and I will give support to others. We can do this:-)

That is great! Keep that mindset and you will achieve your goal. People on this site are very supportive. Ask for help and you will get it.
  • This is one week for me too. I actually joined this network because I was looking for an app that would be easy to use for a Food Journal / Diary. Over the last couple of years I've experienced some crazy acne on my face, not the amount of acne, but the type. At first I didn't even call them acne, I thought it was some sort of infection. It swells, pus-filled, very gross and painful (never mind the site). After a couple of dermatologist visits, blood work to check hormones and everything else.... their conclusion is "adult acne / cystic acne". SOOOO, since nothing seems to really work well for my face, I decided to keep a journal of everything I eat, to see if anything triggers these breakouts. Interestingly enough, I'm learning a great deal about my eating habits, especially HOW MUCH I eat!!!
I even bought myself a food scale, because I have no clue what 1 g or 1 oz or 1 cup of anything is.
Point is (sorry for rambling). no matter the reason you start this journey, the goal is the same - HEALTH. I've been here for one week, but find myself turning food away, because now I know how many calories and fat they contain and that will be over my target for the day.
    I'm loving it.
    GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!

Hi, new to website, just over 10 days. Finding it really useful to log everything i eat, Bit of a set back last weekend, went to 2 bbq's!
Catching back up now and finding a lot of motivation at end of day when goals have been achieved. Even block booked swimming sessions as local pool and cycling to work should help to keep on track.

Congrats! I am 53 also and have been on this program for one week. Although I have unsuccessfully tried to lose weight in the past, I am feeling positive about this program. Immediately seeing the calorie count and the nutritional values in count has helped me to lower my food intake. It has also had a positive effect on my exercise activity. Menopause and all it's oppression kicked in about 4 months ago for me and my metabolism all but stopped. My daughter introduced me to this site and I am filled with hope this time. I don't want to get on the scale until next week since I have been on antibiotics this week. My trip to the doctor for a stubborn cough forced me to deal with my actual weight. Thanks for being here!!!

Right there with you. I've lost 2 pounds and it is so motivating already. This was my first serious week where I began tracking and really thinking about what my goals truly are. Health and beauty (ok - nothing wrong with a little vanity). I am making changes until I find that sweet spot where the weight just keeps coming off. So far I've given up the wine....now that was hard. Then I made my breakfast smaller. Realized that although the whole "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was in my had - I wasn't even that hungry. Now I'm having a slice of gluten free bread (another change recommended by my naturopathic doctor) with chicken breast meat and my coffee, Will definitely get in some exercise and I just know this will be another successful day. And I wish you a successful day as well:)
